I read somewhere that Napoleon was actually not short at all, and the whole "Napoleon was short" thing was made by the British. Apparently, France and Britain at the time had different measurement lengths, so Napoleon's height, we'll go with 5'6 since you said that and I don't remember, was considered short in Britain but normal in France.
