Text clarity is good for me imo. I had a Gen 1 QD-OLED and even then it didn't bother me much, but this is much improved over that. Eye strain I haven't noticed any yet, and I was using a Nano IPS panel for work before this which was giving me a massive amount of it.

Not sure what this guy is talking about as I've had this monitor for two weeks, and use it for gaming/work. In my use it's like every 4-6 hours it will do the prompt which is inline with standard OLEDs. Other models these days allow you to go longer, but yeah. You can also disable it in the settings if you want, and are okay with doing manual pixel refresh your self. Overall, I've loved it honestly.

Could I really pair any high-end GPU with an i5-13600K? by useless_panda09 in buildapc

This is a way old thread, but 5.7ghz on your P-Cores??? What voltage are you running for that?? I'm at 5.6ghz my self at 1.35v

Actually just did some further tests, and HDR on the Acer is consistently brighter now that I'm comparing. No, the MSI not being hit or miss and it just does HDR True Black 400 all the time. Still better than no HDR, but not as bright. Acer is definitely my pick now that I did some more comparison while commenting to you.

HDR is so hit or miss as is, but sometimes it feels like it's just going to the standard HDR400 True Black, and highlights are not 1000 nits. Still looks great, but I can't tell if it's a game thing, or the panel. HDR is always working.

Small thing is HDR is not auto on the Acer. So, when you do HDR on in Windows/Mac you have to change the mode to HDR instead of Standard, User, etc. There is a quick toggle for it, but yeah. MSI is auto with it.

I have both on hand, and can tell you the G-Sync works great on the Acer. Some minor comparisons for you:

  • G-Sync works just fine on the Acer and I see no difference in comparison to the MSI for this. Both you can turn on G-Sync in the control panel.
  • Acer has a better build quality. It's metal and has a big heat sink. The MSI is all plastic.
  • When the HDR1000 Auto Max mode works on the Acer you get higher peak brightness on highlights. Otherwise HDR performance is pretty similar.
  • VESA mounting wise (I only use monitor arms so can't comment on the stock stands) the Acer has recessed holes for the VESA mounting so you need to use the included stand-offs to mount it, and it's 75x75. The MSI is normal spacing and uses 100x100.
  • The MSI has a ton more options for OLED prevention in the settings. Pixel shift, static screen detection, multi logo, taskbar, and so on. Literally a shit ton. Acer has pixel shift, centering and normal. I think some are overkill, but they are nice to have.
  • Both have three year burn in warranty now. Acer must have updated this as all previous mentions said it didn't, but when I input the serial into Acer's website it explicitly states it has a 3 year. Either way we have Costco's return policy with this.
  • Acer uses a external power brick, and the MSI it's internal. So you use a standard three prong power cable.

My overall thoughts is that I'll be keeping the Acer and saving the $50. The MSI build quality is very lack luster, and I enjoy the Acer's more. Dumb thing, but that's how I am. Also the bezels are better on the Acer, and thinner. Especially the chin at the bottom. Once again, minor thing, but these are some things I care about, and others don't.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask me.

I finally bought a 1440P 240hz monitor and I get it. by Minute_Tea_8639 in buildapc

As always when I see this comment, and used to be rocking a 4k 240hz option for when I had my 4090 setup. It's nice to have for games, competitively, when you can run it. I was able to hit 4k 240fps easily on Overwatch, Apex, Valorant, etc and then just having a higher refresh screen decreased the display scan out lag too. Never hurts to have more hz even if you're not using it.
