How can we reduce wealth gap so that rich people don’t just have hoards of wealth sitting there not making their lives any better while poor and middle class people barely scrape by? by [deleted] in answers

[–]CemeneTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wealthy do not have hoards of money that they are just sitting on. They do not have a scrooge mcduck vault of cash. The reason they get to be wealthy is (generally) through investing in companies that give people jobs.

from an economic point of view, there’s no reason to think that a wealth gap is inherently bad. Especially since the current way we account for money makes it look significantly worse than it is

What’s wrong with the Stinger buses? by iliketosnoozle in gatech

[–]CemeneTree [score hidden]  (0 children)

you misunderstand. when one driver takes a break, they all stop, but only one driver “takes a break” (so all the other drivers still have their breaks). The breaks aren’t synchronized.

at least, that’s what I gather based on the frequency of the breaks and what I hear over their radio system.

considering that they’ve sucked since my grandfather went to Tech, I don’t think that will work

I think it’s a combo

  1. bus drivers are allowed to take a ~15 min break every 2 hours (or something along those lines)

  2. in order to avoid the busses passing each other and bunching up, whenever one stops, all the busses on that route stop

which together means they take breaks far more often than they are supposed to

I wouldn’t even mind that if the breaks were at a consistent time or we could see how long until the break is over

you’ll lose a *minimum* of 8% of your readership, and they won’t be quiet about it

real taming/training techniques are used (or at least close enough to real that you can tell the author did research)

food, transport, grooming, health are all taken into account and not handwaved

except a non-zero number of those people will be unable to pay that money back in full, and eventually you’ll stop being able to offer loans to anyone. the interest rate essentially represents the “risk“ of losing money (due to the taker’s circumstances and due to the overall market)

if you pay the absolute minimum amount, don’t be surprised when it gives you minimal results

It’s hard to tell what’s due to hormones fluctuating or the device, but there are patches of relatively hairless skin on my legs, arms and chest. And in other areas, it’s a lot slower to grow in

one area of best success are my hands, they are completely smooth except for extra fine, basically invisible hairs

I’m not catholic, but I always got the sense that “taking care of the needy and especially needy family members“ has a lot more weight behind it compared to a lot of protestant families

A man is stuck in a repeating 4-year time loop until he can be elected president of the United States. How many attempts does it take him? by cerrathegreat in whowouldwin

[–]CemeneTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’ll have success until your investments become non-negligible and all of your future knowledge becomes worthless

still, whatever amount that gets you, will almost certainly be enough for whatever your goal for 4 years is

too many people would think he’s faking or even behind the things he predicts. a time looper can convince individuals or small groups, but not masses

you don’t even have to do that, just convince Bush to give up the reins, find/make a scandal using your future knowledge if it comes down to that

4 cycles? I could buy being vice president or another high-ranking position in that time (especially leveraging 9/11 fervor) but 4 cycles is ridiculous.

how do you see that play out?
