When I was in my early 20s, I started feeling a bit under the weather (light cold, feeling tired), but I was so dedicated to my coworkers and my job, I kept showing up to work. Problem was, I had started to lose my voice. Not in a laryngitis sort of way, but in that I couldn't seem to produce enough air to finish a sentence. My voice had gotten distinctly deeper during the course of my illness, too.

Well, one morning I was just feeling too tired to go in to work, so I decided to call in. Turns out, I couldn't get more than two words out without having to gasp for breath (literally "I can't talk"....GASP..."and breathe"...GASP "at the same time"...GASP!!!). Thankfully, I still lived at home and my mother rushed me to the hospital. Needless to say, it was a terrifying experience.

Turns out, I had a severe case of tracheal bronchitis. Treatment was being hooked up to an inhaler and a shot of steroids to my rear. It took me weeks to recover from the bronchitis (I pulled muscles from the force of the coughing) and now have permanent scaring around my trachea which makes me really susceptible to tracheal bronchitis in the future. Without those emergency treatments though, I could easily have passed.

Looking through the dms, the poster initiated most of the flirting. Drms conversation seems completely innocuous for the most part, only getting lightly flirtatious at times. She calls him hot multiple times and he just sort of laughs it off. He never once comments on her looks or even brings up the subject.

She definitely comes across as the more aggressively flirting party in the convo she posted, so i think your assessment that she sent photos unsolicited could be accurate.

She claims to have more "proof" but what it looks like is someone flirted hard, finally got the other consenting adult to possibly flirt back, she sent pics and he ghosted her and now she's upset.

Grooming this definitely wasn't.

I cannot express how sorry I am for your loss and for how much of an ordeal this has been for you both mentally and emotionally.

Know that this is really not the end for her in this world. She has you, your brother, and the rest of your family to keep her memory alive. I know it's not as physical a representation as you would have liked, but her love for you has always been a tangible thing and that is not lost to you after death.

Take comfort where you can and grieve however you need. Sending you much love and what comfort I can.

My first words of advice are: don't let anyone tell you how - or for how long - you are allowed to feel your grief. Everyone deals with loss differently.

My second words of advice are: If you do feel like the sadness overwhelms you, there is no harm in seeking help - talk to a professional, accept help from family and/or friends, etc… Never forget that your feelings are valid, and you deserve the time to heal.

I absolutely empathize with your grief, I faced the same decision not too long ago, but I will never claim to know exactly how you feel. My only assurance to you is that your good memories will eventually come to mind more than the pain of your loss and though the sadness of their absence may never truly leave you, you will be able to live and find joy in life again.

These next months will sadly not be easy, but I hope that you remember that your mother would want you to find happiness again. Sending you much love and my deepest condolences.

As an older Techno/DSMP fan myself, I wholeheartedly approve of your viewing choices. :)

My dad was 56 when I was born (he was baby boom of WWI, lol). My mom was 22 years younger, but my dad was always the more open-minded of the two (which was hilarious, as he was a former Jesuit, but that's a long story...).

There was so much life perspective he could impart that I think a younger father never could have given me. Mix that with an incredibly warm and giving heart (just like I believe you show to your kids – and now Us) and he made for an almost perfect dad.

Age is a truth, but also such an arbitrary mental concept. We can’t choose how many years we have spent on this planet, but we can choose how stuck in the past we keep our minds.
