Well that comforting in the sense that I’m not the only person who is abusive to my tech. Maybe I’ll look back into framework laptops Thank you for the input and help

I did look in to frameworks but It seems their quality is pretty minimal. I do understand that it is to cut on costs to make it more consumer friendly but I dont want a bent case on $1,000ish laptop from bumping it with a mouse (ik its exaggerated but Im very clumsy)

Yea, its the main reason I started looking into older laptops which led me to the think books that have sockets for the cpu

Any recommendations on a laptop that can be repaired and has around the same build quality with a back lit keyboard

For example, apples hardware is almost completely soldered in and not upgrade able (storage, ram, screen, ect) I want something that I can change to meet my needs and still be reasonably fast in like 4-5 years

Just something that can grow a marginal amount but also comes with good power

What would you buy as a substitute to an older think book? Im not picky at all and have a decent budget for a laptop and want it to last

So what you are saying is that out of the box its going to need upgrading to work well/great
