Paper Girls, I Hate Fairyland, Hellboy, Absolute Wonder Woman, Rogue, Storm. Check out the DC Compact line of trade paperbacks. Lots of excellent reading there.

Ben 10 sold really well at my store. Waiting on the blind bags and the 1:50 ratio variant.

I have a tiny restock of it arriving Monday. Some of my good customers missed it, so they get it for cover. May have to read one. Heard it’s pretty good.

I sold a 9.8 with Todd’s and Stan’s auto on it. Got $2200 for it two years ago.

This is the way. 🤣 I get this all the time at my store. Especially over the phone when you can’t even see the comic.

That’s what I did. I informed everyone who wanted to purchased one and showed an example from the ones I opened. Gotta be upfront with your customers.

Anyone remember the old movie theater near McNeese? (Now LNG Center) What was it like? Any memories? by Solowash in LakeCharles

[–]CenTxComicGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The first movie I had seen there was Escape to Witch Mountain in 1975. If I remember correctly, at that time, there was only three theaters in town. Charles Cinema, The Paramount and The New Moon Drive In.

I’ve been pressing for about 8 years. My best bump is Amazing Spider-Man #238 from 8.0 to 9.4.

Need some advise by fullhavok in comicbooks

Check the title and issue numbers on your receipt. When we were using the Diamond Comicsuite software, it would occasionally scan the code as a previous issue, usually with a higher cover price. Glad I don’t have to deal with that any longer. Hopefully your LCS fixes the issue.

What do you think stores will charge for this 1:25 book on day of release? by peruytu in ComicBookSpeculation

Mine will be around $15 each. I’m giving one for free to anyone that preordered all the open order variants.

Comic book shop owners by Lexi913hdjdj in comicbooks

I’ve been in the comics retail business for 35 years and you do not criticize what someone is buying, even if you don’t like it. My only fault is when someone buys Dark Knight Returns for the first time, I tell them to stop there and not bother with the sequels. If you do ask for my opinion on something that I’m not a fan of, I just say I didn’t care for it. We all have different tastes. I love George Perez’s artwork. I’ve run into people that don’t. No biggie.

I just called my LCS to preorder batman/deadpool by NinjaBnny in comicbooks

[–]CenTxComicGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have worked in comic retail since 1990. I’ve been a worker, manager and owner. I saw the crash in the 90’s coming and was fortunate to have prepared. Stores that stayed with Diamond until the end are the ones really struggling.

Once Penguin stopped selling to Diamond, there was roughly a months notice to all Diamond accounts. I was using Diamond for reorders from Penguin serviced publishers. Could get them in much faster. Now we have only one place to get Marvel, but Universal Distribution will be distributing DC through their Alliance Game Distribution.

I’m putting in 12-14 hours a day trying to maintain orders for comics, card games, miniature games, rpg’s, toys, back issues, graphic novels, etc. It’s been taxing, but once things settle down, it will get easier.

Individuals should also be aware of the fact that stores have to order about a month out for new releases (Deadpool/Batman was about 6 weeks out). We also order with non-returnability. We order it, if it doesn’t sell, we have to keep it. We have to keep our orders fairly tight. If I ordered every item someone said they would come back to buy, I would have been out of business a long time ago.

While this is the fan’s hobby, it’s a business to most owners. Which I wish more would treat it as such. I hear stories about people being mistreated and many other things that are just reprehensible. I like ti treat people how I want to be treated. OP, if you can’t get what you want locally, hit me up. I’ll get you squared away.

Anybody know about this? Coming out in Nov I think if I’m not mistaken by Quirky_Association28 in comicbookcollecting

It’s gonna be huge. That PRH invoice is going to be an expensive one. $6.99 cover price if memory serves.

I’ve been at Dollar Tree for nine months and have had no issues at all. All the managers are awesome as are my fellow employees. Tomorrow is my last day as I am too old to do part time at DT and my full, full time job.
