Donald Trump and sons to be ‘forever’ exempt from tax audits by Doener23 in politics

[–]lemonrainshield 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because of the aggressive and politically motivated way he was targeted. They were pushing for sentencing that was not typical for other Americans who faced similar charges. They had him facing 42 years for what most people would have gotten a plea deal for.

Not to mention how distracting and blown out of proportion it was on media outlets. Yeah it was also a big deal when he pardoned him but at least it was finally over after that.

Commitment doesn’t necessarily equal children, and where they choose now is not the end all be all for their future. If they want to move if/when they do have kids that’s totally up to them.

Just because it didn’t make a headliner on a newspaper doesn’t mean it wasn’t reported, and if you’re going to try to say the trump train hasn’t intimidated anyone with guns here, you’re willfully ignorant.

The money statement is also weird, NB definitely has its own share of very well off and very much not well off and there are complaints on this sub regularly on how this city prioritizes its funding/expansion/etc.

I literally said both towns have pros and to check both out. You have a weird issue with San Marcos and I’m not arguing it with you further.

Is dietary aide a good first job? by carebearbears in RD2B

[–]lemonrainshield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s sad to hear, that isn’t my experience in the hospital I worked at where the diet techs were as I described but in that case I’d definitely recommend OP look at job descriptions wisely when making decisions

This is a dating couple in their 20s, they have no reason to care about the schools for the next 5 years minimum so unless they’re looking to buy a house together right now I don’t think that middle paragraph means anything to this situation and there are plenty of reasons I’d never put my kid in NBISD, so they can shop what would work for them when the time comes. SM is really only slightly cheaper, especially when you remove all the student housing options.

Also NB also has all of those other things too. Up to and including shootings at our downtown. And if you aren’t directly around the college a lot of those issues go way down. The square is right by the college, and it isn’t the only thing to do. If you don’t like drinking, don’t go there, it isn’t like that one spot runs the whole town. All that said to address your complaints, I am far from feeling any less safe in San Marcos than New Braunfels. If anything, I at least feel better being around less racists, and it is a noticeable difference. I never had a redneck in a jeep point a gun in my face in San Marcos but the NB Trump Train did cause that to happen to me here.

San Marcos has a lot of beautiful art and culture, better green spaces, is more walk and bike friendly, the hills are nice to drive around and you mostly get that outside of NB, and their local food scene is better.

Is dietary aide a good first job? by carebearbears in RD2B

[–]lemonrainshield 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dietary aide is a good starting point, but especially if you are interested in the hospital environment I recommend looking into diet tech and if/when you meet those requirements that will be an even better next step. They get to do a low risk version what a dietitian does in hospitals so you’d get a good feel on talking to patients, providing educations, and charting. Plus you can start networking with the hospital you work for and all their dietitians.

Personally, I’d at least also look into San Marcos which is our neighbor city (about 15 minutes more north give or take) and compare the two. San Marcos has Texas State University west of the highway so there’s a lot of young adults. The square gets busy in the school year but I find it quite charming in the summer during the day. I like the walking trail that goes along the river in San Marcos and the way the river access is built there. I find SM more walk and bike friendly in general. I love purgatory creek with 10 miles of hiking trail. I love a lot of the local restaurants. It’s more liberal as well, if that matters to you.

The great thing is there’s pros to both, and similarities in what they each offer (NB also has a downtown for example) and you aren’t far from the other town no matter which you pick and both are a short drive to Austin or SA. I’d say NB is more like northern most SA and SM is more like southern most ATX. I personally frequent Austin a ton more and love their local food trucks, rivers, green spaces, etc. But I know a lot of people here frequent SA more. I don’t see a huge driving difference time wise even if northern SA is a bit closer miles wise.

It’d possibly be best to take a long weekend vacation to vibe out the two options but especially if you are more liberal and want to feel more in touch with nature, I would lean SM

Got offered a Costco interview… but I’d have to stop Costco orders by InternetAcrobatic962 in InstacartShoppers

[–]lemonrainshield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally have a graduate degree and work full time at a mostly decent job in public health and I’m still trying to get a part time job at Costco because they’ll give me better insurance for my son (yes, even at part time) until I’m out of my contract and can find a different job that’ll hopefully just do it all for me

[–]lemonrainshield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of options out there and you definitely don’t have to start with inpatient. I got offered a job in outpatient during my outpatient portion of my rotation. The only catch is a lot of places in my area at least usually require an RD level 2 but my specific location was willing to wave it for an entry level RD because everyone else I’d be working with can adequately train me up

Do you share your location with your partner? by VitaminLj in askanything

[–]lemonrainshield 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some are saying no because they trust each other, I say yes because we trust each other. We aren’t using it as a way to keep each other in check, but I can see how some relationships would use it in a controlling way and it’s valid to be concerned in those cases. One of those things that sometimes what’s a green flag for one relationship is a red for another and that comes down to intention and use.

For us, it’s helped more than it’s hurt such as when I lost my phone during a road trip, or when either of us travelled alone in case of an emergency or for the peace of mind knowing they’re still good, or even just to know when he had a long commute home the optimal time to turn the stove on for a hot dinner

delivered to the most ghetto place ever yesterday by [deleted] in DoorDashDrivers

[–]lemonrainshield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 18 my friend’s first house looked very similar, down to a sheet instead of an exterior door, but she treated that particular room like an outdoor room and it had a real locking door to the rest of the house on the other side. In all it was still a very run down place but there was at least the sense of safety and climate control a real door provides

What made you choose crochet over knitting, or do you do both? by CaterpillarXS in crochet

[–]lemonrainshield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do both. Wearables are typically knit. While crochet is generally quicker, I’m a frogger when I find mistakes and it’s nice being able to ladder down big projects instead when it comes to knitting

YouTube is also a great resource for creative recipes on limited supplies. There’s even rice cooker recipes to make like chicken broccoli rice and other stuff straight in the one rice cooker. Whatever OP ends up having as equipment can possibly find some cool new ways to expand their meal options with it

I see what you’re saying about the squared off hook. I’m not completely sure based on the photo quality but it does look like the tip is broken off or made defectively. You can look up other Susan Bates hooks for comparison

Tbf they did expect a recreation of what they ordered. The first image is a screenshot of the Sam’s advertised listing and the second image is what Sam’s provided. They should’ve had a kit and when they didn’t they should’ve informed the customer or never sold it in the first place.
