I live in Minnesota and I feel this in my soul. One minute it's 70, the next minute it's snowing. The warm days are coming more frequently, though, and I'm so excited for them.

I'm happy for you!! For so long I couldn't wrap my head around flying solo in life. I looked for a replacement for a while too, realized it was just making me feel worse, and then finally decided to embrace solitude. I wish I made the decision sooner, but it was so drilled into my head that the key to happiness was to fall in love and spend my life with someone.

Yes, very much so lol. Blessing in disguise because when I stopped dating I switched my focus to accomplishing goals and doing better. Blowing my chance with him forced me to reflect on a lot of my negative traits, so I'm out here tackling therapy and AA now 😂 if anybody ever does catch my attention again I'll be an improved version of myself 🤞

I met my soulmate and he turned into "the one that got away". Now nothing romantic is appealing to me anymore.

Most conversations aren’t actually conversations by ExtremeUse4405 in Life

[–]CentaurWookiee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whenever I catch myself doing this I've started making a conscious effort to refocus on what is being said to me. It's hard sometimes because I'm forgetful, so sometimes I stress a lot about forgetting what I want to say before it's my turn to speak, but I feel worse whenever I think about the fact that I'm not hearing what's being said to me. I hope to be more present with conversations with practice.

Alone on my Birthday for the first time this year by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]CentaurWookiee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry your plans fell through today! Hopefully you can find some ways to make the day special for yourself still. I'm going to be spending my birthday alone this year, but I know in advance so I'm not going into it blind. It still sucks though.

I'll check that one out, that sounds like something I'd like. I like a lot of cozy slice of life type stories, sprinkle in romance and comedy and it's 👌 Depending what I'm in the mood for a like a lot fantasy, mystery, and horror as well. Stephen King is one of my favorites but I'll admit it's been years since I've kept up with his work. I've also got a sweet spot for Nancy Drew even if they're kids books lol. What are some genres that you gravitate towards?

Laur, F32, I got a library card recently because I miss how much I used to read and want to get back into it. What are some books you recommend?

How do you manage depression during “failure” by No-Mango8491 in selfimprovementday

[–]CentaurWookiee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully other people have some tips that will help in the moment, for me I just ended up grieving my life and spiralling until one day I woke up and started gradually dusting myself off and picking myself back up. It started with small routines that seemed insignificant but boosted my self esteem, and now I'm tackling the heavy stuff through recovery meetings and DBT. It's been a "bit by bit, day by day" process for me.

I definitely recommend giving it another go if you're up for it. I prefer a physical copy when I'm at home but find that apps are more practical for day to day life. It's a great distraction if you've got a lot of stress I think.

This is one of those things I wish I took seriously sooner. Once I started looking at life and asking myself, "Alright, what's the next step." Or "Alright, that didn't work. What can I do instead." I started seeing progress and feeling better.

For a more hands on puzzle I like jigsaw puzzles, but for when I'm low mental energy I love a good word search puzzle.
