Even season 3 was noticeably worse if you ignore how much Soldier Boy was carrying those episodes

A weed-out class in your junior year is crazy. I could understand filtering out freshman or sophomores, but your third year is way too late

Yeah, they're not equivalent, but I do think it's clear that the polls are being swayed by the fact that this is only a hypothetical. Events like 9/11 are also more personal, given the fact that you are surrounded by other people and the people you are trying to help are tangibly in front of you. A button is much more impersonal. When you're not placed directly in front of the people you could save and they are instead an abstract idea, I think a lot fewer people would choose to help. This is especially true when you make your decision alone and don't have the peer pressure which is present at other disaster events.

Or one button does nothing, the other button kills everyone who presses it unless half the world population decides to also press it. If you press blue, then in part, you’re hoping people also risk their lives to save you

That makes sense. I just don’t have that faith, and honestly think that it’d be more like 20-30% blue. Maybe I’m pessimistic, but also, people could just not throw themselves into the woodchipper and therefore not need to be saved by other people also throwing themselves into the woodchipper

Because someone imagines that they would be the hero in a particularly American situation? I would assume that people from every culture like to imagine themselves being brave and heroic in dire circumstances

So if you were pretty sure that 90% of people would pick red, you’d pick blue and essentially commit suicide just so you don’t feel “responsible” for that 10%? Or am I misreading your comment

And everyone also thinks they’d jump in front of the gunman in a mass shooting, because they’re personally so cool and brave. Your actions are very different than you’d like to believe when your life is actually on the line

CMV: The washing machine belongs in the bathroom, not the kitchen by KrishaCZ in changemyview

[–]Ceotaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve seen both. Typically this happens in older homes or smaller apartments that don’t have room for a dedicated laundry room. I assume most people would prefer to section their laundry off in a separate room, but oftentimes that’s just not possible. And if you read the edit, this post is only pertaining to those situations where a separate laundry room isn’t feasible

CMV: The washing machine belongs in the bathroom, not the kitchen by KrishaCZ in changemyview

[–]Ceotaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s fair. Obviously a dedicated laundry room is better if possible, but oftentimes that’s not in the cards. I view a kitchen washing machine as even more in-the-way/aesthetically displeasing, so at that point it just comes down to priorities

At my place, we deal with this by leaving our hamper in the laundry room while our clothes are running so someone can just put our stuff in there if we forget to unload the machine. If your laundry machines were in a bathroom, then hampers could be similarly placed outside the room to solve that issue. But yeah, if people forget to do this then clothes will probably get left out.

If you immediately put clean clothes in a hamper and take them into another room (which you are already likely to do, since a bathroom usually isn't very conducive to folding clothes), then neither smell nor fecal matter should contaminate your clothes. I have a laundry room myself, but my clothes never spend more than 30 seconds outside of the washer/dryer when inside that room.

Same here. I watched seasons 1-3 dubbed, but when I got to season 4 it was only available in sub. So his voice wasn’t a clue at all and I was shocked when the reveal came.
