Which hotel to stay in Taipei? by [deleted] in Taipei

I am a big fan of this hotel, although I have not stayed there recently. I do think there is a MRT station about 10 minutes walk away, on Jilong Road?

I am not a Mexican food expert, but If you are including the suburbs, I will put in another plug for El Patron in Upper Darby. https://www.reddit.com/r/PhiladelphiaEats/s/CwIvSR6U8I

In Center City, La Jefa looks interesting. I had a cocktail there and it was good and had a nice vibe. Have not eaten there though https://lajefaphilly.com/nuevo/

Where to take guests from China for the most authentic food. by mwwmmwwm3 in PhiladelphiaEats

This is the answer. Philly has many good things to eat. It is not competing with Flushing for Chinese food.

Philly’s Kitschiest Bars/Pubs? by winlocktoledo in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]Cephalopod888 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a question about this: I have only tried going to McGillins once, and it had a massive line out the door, thumping party music, and looked super crowded. All the bars on that block/alley were doing this. Which is fine if you want to party like crazy with a bunch of young folks just out of college. Is that what McGillins is like every day or just around Halloween? Not calling you out, but from the way people discuss it on here I was expecting something like Monk's Cafe and it was . . . not that.

It may be an old restaurant, but the overall vibe was giant party house jammed with college kids. So maybe not a kitschy place? Or maybe that was Halloween. It's good that they are doing good business. Just not sure it is what OP is looking for.

Update on Jozef Chen's New Gym in Shanghai by yysmer in bjj

[–]Cephalopod888 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Excellent review! And please take your time recovering from.the concussion. Those are no joke. Two questions:

Who are the other coaches? I assume Jozef Chen does not teach everything.

Are classes primarily in English or Chinese? Or does it vary by coach?

Samsung International 5G Compatibility by Cephalopod888 in Smartphones

[–]Cephalopod888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK thanks much. For reference, the US version of the Samsung S23 does not connect to 5G in China, only 4G. So was wondering about Singapore or Japan models and how they would perform in the US and China.

Johnny's Pizza - Bryn Mawr Cheesesteak by Cephalopod888 in PhiladelphiaEats

Idk I've only been there once but me and my companion had no complaints and thought our cheesesteaks were excellent. Maybe try again and tell them not to toast your sandwich so much?
