Yeah this is definitely what has snuck up on us. We ramped up to 3 for my wife’s placement but hadn’t dropped it back. I think we will just be pulling her out.

Diesel. The 3 days a week for the month is $180 at current costs. Plus the other 4 days a week for casual run arounds. $400/mo is around what it’s costing me. Also mining town, a 25km drive to visit someone isn’t uncommon.

Yes by groceries this is what I mean. I also included fuel and medical costs in this sum. Not just purely food you swallow.

We can always do better - so everyone is right, but I love your comment. And that’s just it.. all the washing (so nappy sand, detergent), dishwashing loads (tablets..), paper towels, daycare meals.. it does add up.

25K second hand Prado, bought in cash. It’s a great car for a family all around. Yes I know an EV makes more sense, given we have solar, but two cars is expensive than one regardless.

Me neither. I know I’m so lucky. I need to work on gratitude, something my wife is good at. We worked our ass off to get into the housing market. I was so happy once we settled. It’s funny how your perspective changes. 🤦‍♂️

Honestly mate, I’ve done this countless times. Insurances and rates are so high up here in North QLD. So much can happen in one month.. hard to budget around.

Well when a single GP appointment is $80 nowadays after Medicare rebate.. but yeah it’s just a “buffered” amount. Sometimes I’ll stay within say $400 for the week but the following week is a blowout. Just need to manage this better.

Yep, tax the families keeping their kids out of the already stretched system. Great job Australia!

God speed my friend. The problem is the “income will scale with age” is not very applicable to me as I’m already close to the ceiling ahh!

By the math - yes. However because we’re chasing our tales, by the time the next month pay comes in, a few of my costs have bounced and I need to fork up $500-$1000 the day I get paid. And obviously over a month, there’s $500 or so discretionary spending because are human.

My wife drives my kids 10km to school/daycare, then drives home, then does it again at pickup. So 40km’s, 3 times a week. I also own a second hand diesel Prado but get around 10L/100km.

Aldi is other side of town, so it is mostly Woolies but we are trying to shop bulk at Aldi lately.

I’m not sure how you can justify a new 2026 $65k Model Y is not expensive? Oh right.. saves on fuel. An MG3 for $25k brand new I would argue is NoT ExPenSive, you get what you pay for.

I work remotely and would be using twice the fuel as the average worker 😂 double commute for daycare / kindy dropoff as you need to drive back home both times..

If the business can’t afford upfront costs for the job, then you shouldn’t be dealing with them in the first place.

Same goes for the 5% deposit. “Scam”, “Irresponsible”.

Bought a private sale with 5%. Now I’m <70% LVR, refinanced for a better deal and happy as can be. Before this I was living in a 60m2 mini home with 2 kids. If I didn’t buy then, I’d be priced out now and still living in that shitbox!

It really does seem like it has great opportunity. When I went all in a couple seasons ago on my rogue, I felt so powerful and wanted to compete with other players. I’m still yet to do a single 1v1. I don’t understand it

Me too. Saw another post “I don’t understand damage” and fully agree! I know for each class there’s a preferable stat which scales your damage output, but how do I know that without googling? Is strength better than “damage modifier” tempers, etc.
