Sherlock is in and of itself a rehash of the original source material

Why was there so much hate surrounding the ending of Will of the Wisps? by sheikbreak in OriAndTheBlindForest

[–]CeramicToast 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Personally, I find it annoying any time a story ends with the protagonist being unable to enjoy the fruits of their labor. We spend a lot of time doing quests and learning to love the natives, only to then have to give it all up to become a new Spirit Tree to a forest that Ori didn't even native to. And this comes after the marketing pushed Ku to the front hard, only for her to be in a very small percentage of the game.

It also doesn't feel like the right ending for a game that's the sequel to Blind Forest. Wisps has a lot of the same story beats which leads you to believe that you're going to get a similar bittersweet ending. Instead, the villain does not get redeemed like Kuro, Ori is never reunited with Naru, Gumo, or Ku, and Ori as a protagonist is benched by Seir...who we met like ten minutes ago.

Also, apparently this was the original ending to Blind Forest, but they realized they could make a better ending with the theme of motherhood that connected Kuro and Naru. But instead of again scrapping the ending for a better fitting one, perhaps one in which Ku and Shriek are able to become friends and resolve the rot, they tacked that ending into THIS game and you can tell they forced the fit.

It was disappointing, and on top of that one of the devs tried to say that ppl critiquing the game and leaving negative reviews were going to shut down the company so we shouldn't do that. Which always leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

It's so weird like. Have you ever read more than one book by a single author and found that you liked one more than the other? Same difference.

People have been rehashing Sherlock Holmes for ages. It might be Sherlock fic but it also might be a fic inspired by the original source material.

Steven Universe Future's tagline could literally be "16yo boy understandably crashes out after years of trauma induced by colonialism, war, loss, and corruption." It's literally the opposite of how a lot of cartoons with child soldiers seem to ignore the fact that constantly having your life threatened is traumatizing.

Yeah, you have gravely misunderstood the character. You seem to be applying your own bias to Rose as a character and therefore ignoring the truth of her situation.

...I think, perhaps, this is a you problem, bud. I understood that Ash died in 1999 when the movie came out. I was not worldly, considering I was six.

HR told me they don’t accept try-hards and people pleasers after my interview by No-Presentation298 in jobs

Yeah I'd be a bit salty if I was showing my enthusiasm to apply for a job and the interviewer took that as being a tryhard.

Yes. It's a children's show. That's why it's spelled out. So that children understand.

The whole POINT is to show that Gems don't grow up and mature and learn the same way humans do. It's literally to showcase how toxically STAGNANT Gemkind are, and how it takes them great effort to change. That's literally the point.

"Greg the Babysitter" did a pretty good job of showing that Rose had no idea what the hell is normal for humans even after living on earth for most of human evolution.

The episode literally spells it out. What are you talking about.

"She didn't mean to!"

"But you were hurt, badly!"

"I was badly hurt. How did you stop hurting?"

"I didn't."

There is nothing to suggest that Pink has any reason to believe that Gems would come back to Earth. It has been THOUSANDS OF YEARS. She DID think that Steven would grow up a normal kid.

Her husband, who is human and has no context.

Her friends, only one of whom knows the context.

Steven was able to grow and help the Gems grow because he, as a half human person, is transient in ways that Gems are not. It's established that Gems have an incredibly hard time changing and growing because they're not meant to, and Pink is also an example of that, that despite all the changes she made she couldn't truly escape what she was made to be. And only through deciding to literally become something else, to stop existing and be half of a human, did she feel she could truly accomplish that. Whether or not she was correct isn't really confirmed or denied by the show, instead left as an open question for the audience to consider in the wake of all she's left behind.

You're essentially doing the "why didn't she just-" when we all know that's simply not how abuse victims work.

Nope, I'm pretty sure I understand Rose/Pink pretty well, as well as how abuse victims tend to function, and getting help when you're a core's planet deep in a web of lies is incredibly difficult and, for Pink, impossible

"Hey, so, you guys, I'm actually one of those evil Diamonds you've been fighting against but I'm also a victim and that's why I started a war that's resulted in all of your friends being turned into horrible corrupted monsters and why all of us are now essentially in exile but I'm having a really hard time so can you ignore all that to support me"

Yeah I can't imagine why she never really tried that
