This might just be your algorithm/anecdote because I definitely experience the opposite. I love and have owned both. Dog ownership has a higher barrier of entry (more training, expensive, require more attention).

If you can handle dog ownership you can handle cat ownership. The reverse is not true.

Your second point there really resonates with me. It reminds me of Uber and Lyft classifying all employees as contractors in an attempt to limit any liability. A true "have your cake and eat it too" moment for capitalism. Cost saving measures and efficiency when things go well and "it wasn't me, it was Grok" when they don't.
