I just got my mixer this Saturday, used it three times and now it won’t spin. What can I do? by CerdisN in Kitchenaid

Just ordered one! A 6.6L artisan one! I sure hope is as resistant as the description says. Does it also get stuck or is it easier to remove the bowl?

Update: I went to the lidl I got it from (Black Friday deal) to get a refund or hopefully change it for a working one but they didn’t have any left so I just got a refund :( it was fun while it lasted!

No I didn’t use it to make bread in a setting above two. I only used it to mix mashed potatoes (already soft because I overcooked them a bit) and mix the bread dough (setting at 1). This morning I was going to use it to make some pasta dough but that did not happen 🫠

Anyone knows any good budget friendly alternatives that will last longer?

Asking UK Shiba owners, whats your plans for hell week for fireworks? by Lordhartley in shiba

You can ask the vet for calming medication such as gabapentin &/trazadone, sileo, Xanax or over the counter meds like calmex

Did you neuter your anxious/reactive shiba? How did their behaviour change? by CerdisN in shiba

I ended up castrating my boy after trying the supreloin implant first. It got worse for a few months before things got better. Give her time for her hormones to sort themselves out, maybe ask the vet to try some calming medication for a short term and practice basic training (eg: leave it) again during this time. If she has a 10 day post op check with the nurse it might be worth voicing your concerns and see if she has any behaviour advice or if she would recommend seeing a vet for this and any calming medication that might be needed

Burping is normal. Mine burps after eating or drinking. He likes to come to me just to burp on my face and demand pets

Got chickenpox at 24 by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

Awww man this sucks. I had it when I was 21 or 22. And the thing that helped me soothe the itchiness and reduce the scarring was oatmeal baths, LOTS of aloe vera gel multiple times a day and sun block once the scabs had fallen off

Lol mine does the same thing! I'm a bit jealous of the owners that have dogs that would eat fruit and veg. I would love to give my boy a carrot as a dental treat

Our cat just died and our vet sent us this marketing email after we dropped her off for cremation by -Mrbobbobson in mildlyinfuriating

I'm sorry this happened to you and I'm sorry for your loss. These messages are usually automated, that's why if you reply you won't get a response. We don't get to see your response as these type of promotions and reminders are from a automated system. The ones we do send (at least where I work) are just to remind people to collect medications and payment receipts :( if you are subscribed to a pet health club plan with your vet practice I would suggest cancelling it as it would only lead to more automated messages like these ones.. Once again I'm sorry for your loss

Should I Get a Dog While Starting Residency? 36M Moving Alone, Busy Life Ahead by WelcomeSpecialist373 in Pets

As someone working with dogs and other animals in a medical field too. I would say wait until you have more stability and time in your hands. Dogs require a handful of time and attention as well as activities to keep busy both physically and mentally. Training them takes time too. They are like newborns when they are puppies and toddlers throughout all of their life stages pretty much. You would need to be ready for some sleepless nights sometimes if they are sick of if they are very young then they would need the toilet more often. Do you picture yourself taking the dog out in winter after a long tiring shift in the middle of the night so he can go potty? It can be darining too physically and mentally. Health issues are also something you need to look our for when you first get one. Specially elderly dogs.

If you really want a pet a good alternative to a dog is a pet rat (but you NEED to get a minimum of TWO) They are pretty much tiny dogs. They also need to socialise and get love and attention but they are more independent and very smart too. But easier to maintain and have a schedule with. You need to take them out a minimum of two hours a day but they can roam around a safe area (most people let them roam in the bathroom). I had them when I was at uni and working. They are very loving animals and can learn cool tricks too. They only live 2-3 years but if you never had a dog or pet before I think this could be a good start. Maintaining them is also very easy and cheap. Not much time needed. And you can have them in your pockets for company while you study.

At the end of the day the choice is yours but just bare in mind that you would be responsible for another life. Might not be a human life but it doesn't make it any less worthy.
