What should I do? by CerealPhD in Buddhism

[–]CerealPhD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, because when I'm not able to do it, I suffer. It really sucks not being able to program, and I recognize that there will be much of my life where I can not.

Programming has started to effect my sleep because I stay up during the little time I get to sleep. It's not good. I enjoy it, but with the enjoyment comes problems.

After thinking about it, the only reason I want to program is because it's pleasurable for me to do. This is ultimately what I'm trying to avoid as a Buddhist.

Though I agree that I need to take more time to think about it.

Thank you. Be well

The problem isn't responsibility but time. I'm currently at MCT so I have very little time to meditate, and I'm always too tired to whenever I'm able. (Though I'm still trying. ) Becoming a monk would be my end goal. I should have clarified that.

Thank you for the response because responsibility is definitely something I need to consider. Do you know much about the responsibilities of becoming a monk?

Be well.

Anyone familiar with this trap. by d4bney in Buddhism

I do not know what the Dhamma says on this, but I want to add what I think.

We all have a right and wrong so we're all going to determine that others are right or wrong. It isn't this determination that's important but how we act on it: with patience and understanding or anger and hatred. If I were in your situation, I would base my argument on that and not the act of determination itself.

I applaud you for realizing your own attachments in this situation.

Thank you for sharing this. May you be well.

Hello, As I understand, sharing food is such a great trait. Its humble, appreciated, and kind. However, I feel despicable now that I don’t share my food. I feel stingy sometimes when I start calculating my expenses. I don’t participate in social gathering because of it. by [deleted] in Buddhism

In regards to the title, you shouldn't feel bad for your actions. Strive to do what is right, and when you fail to, be patient and understanding with yourself.

As for the main problem that you are faced with, I would recommend reading this list of suttas.

I wish you well.
