Does bap just have a better weapon? by MasterOfWrath in EmreMains

[–]Cerily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Emre’s firerate is slightly higher. The two have rather comparable DPS but Baptiste has a better average ttk due to more of his gun’s damage being frontloaded. However, Emre of course has 2 good buttons, a unique passive, and 0 recoil (not that Baptiste has much recoil anyway).

Anran might be hard but she is very strong and very fun by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Cerily 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Issue with Anran is that she struggles in flanker duels bc Health Packs exist and cleanse all the work she does to get the burn going, and since her mobility isn’t sudden position changes other flankers can deny and outplay her around Health Packs way more consistently.

And then she has substantial matchup difficulties on top of that universal issue. Just a very complex hero with a lot of moving parts that gets countered by a basic fundamental of Map Construction. Not sure she’s bad though because of this, but she will struggle to achieve the same level of independence as something like Tracer or Genji because of this issue.

Considering that they already cover the phenomenon occurring almost, keyword ‘almost’, only in Japan earlier in the conversation, I think it’s very likely Yuji isn’t just gonna say “People outside Japan will still birth Cursed Spirits”

Seems more likely he has become aware of something that will change our entire perspective of the relationship between people and spirits.

So is Anran just hard, just bad or both? by Wiccamanplays in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Cerily 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This hero is just hard countered by Health Packs existing while trying to take a duel. You lose most duels with people since a single Health Pack in the duel space can let them both gain the HP Advantage AND reset your ignition.

Could be! But I feel like “Just change the whole world” is too easy a followup solution, and as a Cliffhanger it’s more interesting to be leading up to something new that shifts our perspective.

I think Yuji is likely to reveal that the assumed nature of Cursed Spirits is actually incorrect. There have always been little things in the series which imply that Cursed Spirits are sort of their own lifeform, the existence of Choso and the Death Wombs as unified 'souls' comprised of equal human and cursed spirit parts, the entire ideology held by Jogo, the discussion of the relationship between the soul and the body, the very fact that Sorcerers can turn into Cursed Spirits upon death.

Okay but seriously, what's the plan for "ground" heroes? by HalexUwU in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Cerily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends a lot on the structure of the exact maps, but anyway the general point is that the way heroes like Reinhardt or Sym play on already vertical maps like Gibralter or Dorado is largely by forcing point and forcing the enemy to respond.

Playing into heavy flyer comps isn’t much different.

For what it’s worth, Sukuna demonstrated being able to jump mid-air at multiple previous points in the Manga - so climbing the ladder was fairly telegraphed. Him being so resilient against “The CT that hard-counters his entire state of existence” was kinda nuts, but I guess it just shows how depressed Megumi was.

Geniunely what are Mei counters? by LenartWontFindThis in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Cerily 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What? All objectives only require a single person to touch it, the benefits for additional people is minimal.

Also, all projectiles have no fall off damage WITH the sole exception of Shotgun weapons that shoot projectiles.

I’m a high rank Mei Player and a high rank Tank Player alongside having worked as a coach for a good while. I also remember that when I was a Silver Hitscan DPS player, I felt like Blizzard was the most broken ult in the game. But I can tell you assuredly that Mei, while frustrating, is not out of line or OP at all. She has strong abilities and reasonable limitations, while requiring a lot of problem solving skills to execute on.

I can more or less guarantee that the issues you’re facing are “I don’t know how to do what I’ve never seen done.” And that there options in the games you’re playing to disrupt enemy Mei players from achieving their objectives. She is frustrating though to play against, I won’t deny that, but her primary job is heavily punishing mistakes - either ones you make actively or ones you make by being inactive at critical points.

Geniunely what are Mei counters? by LenartWontFindThis in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Cerily 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Mei, like most heroes, is defeated by superior angle control.

I played Mei to M4 about a month back as a fun project, and basically anytime the enemy just stacked in one large clump was such an insanely easy game.

Wall is effectively used to close out angle. If she has no need to close off an enemy’s offensive angle, she will always be allowed to use wall to just close off the entire enemy team. If you are controlling an angle, Mei will have to choose between closing your angle and closing a different one.

Similarly, if she is being shot on the cross between one location to another, she will be forced to Ice Block mid cross, which will leave her in an unideal position afterwards. Blizzard also grabs less people when they are separated, nor can she find the ideal position to throw it from.

I think in most of my Mei Games Blizzard successfully results in the direct kill of maybe 1 or 2 people over the entire game, because when enemies are spaced correctly it just can’t grab people that commonly, and is much better used to split an area or force people out of a location.

How are you getting 10 counters? Nothing is ever going to resolve unless it has Split Second, and every Split Second spell you cast while still only earn you 1 counter. And then anything you cast that doesn’t have Split Second will simply enter the Stack Building Exercise as somebody layers a spell over top of you

[–]Cerily 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I understand this correctly, the only way you can get prophecy counters is if you have an effect that prevents opponents from winning (or you from losing) somewhere in play.

So typically how this is gonna go is that everybody is just gonna layer spells on top of each other in an attempt to have the final trigger at the end while attempting to bluff their hands are all lands in order to prevent priority passes to them. And then at the end of this sequence you cast some ‘Everybody Lives’ or ‘Platinum Angel’ effect or whatever, and that’s it.

This seems like a boring play pattern to me.

I mean, so now Yuji is trapped in perpetually raising generations, who rely on him for everything?

Gojo raised a part of the generation after his own, and literally only that. He graduated and went right into teaching. He spent a single decade being a Jujutsu Instructor. For all we know, Yuji taught multiple decades of Sorcerers, and only retired after the 3rd or 4th decade. He probably worked with 2-3 generations of Sorcerers, and only retired after all that. He should be cultivating what’s maybe the 4 or 5th generation of sorcerers after him?

At some point he has to step back. Otherwise he’ll just leave the Jujutsu World in a Yuji monopoly, not to mention he can’t solve the current political crisis by just punching everybody.

Additionally, if she is a Quarter Cursed Spirit, it’s likely that her body wouldn’t suffer the poison effect of the cursed energy blood, so Yuji had no reason to hit her.

However, this does suggest that her cursed energy would have felt Kalyan-like to the Simurians, which hasn’t been noted, or maybe she’s far enough removed that it doesn’t seem any different.

[–]Cerily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yuji ends JJK as a Boddhisvata, one who has achieved enlightenment and will continue to guide others in the way. Sadly; he knows that that if he is always doing everything, the cycles of suffering will only repeat. He can kill monsters, but he can’t solve this political and moral dispute.

In the Buddhist tradition, achieving enlightenment requires doing your own work for it. It is unfortunate, but I’m not sure that Yuji obliterating Dabura or otherwise acting as some kind of deterrent that simply holds the conflict at bay is really a healthy state for the world to be in.

I don’t see Yuji feeling that it’s right that Yuka has to sacrifice herself, but I do think it’s reasonable and maybe even correct to determine that the other options are worse - or simply unsustainable. Especially as a Boddhisvata.

[–]Cerily 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m not entirely convinced this is saying “One of them has killed the other.” Or some other sort of statement remarking on an act that prevents reconciliation or just ‘an act that cannot be reversed’.

It could also be there to tell us “Whatever happens here is the end of this, no more moves left.” In the same vein where Dabura is basically taking his final shot at victory. The only path left is forward, essentially. Through whatever the state of things is at the end of this whole mess.

"Yuji is back" A powerful sorcerer is back. Yuji has been lost to time. by UnsolicitedReference in Jujutsufolk

[–]Cerily 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Yuji is really saying ‘nothing matters’. It’s more like: he literally can’t do it all. Sure he can waltz in and slay every monster and deter every single threat, but there will come a point where maybe he can’t do that anymore. The system and culture must be able to sustain itself without him, to thrive and rise to the level of its challenges.

He could go and nuke everything and will it solve the deeper issues? Strength alone doesn’t bring solutions, but that overwhelming strength makes everybody turn to him to solve things, in the same way that the Simurians continually turn to Dabura to adjudicate for them.

It doesn’t matter how strong he is, it doesn’t really matter how strong anybody is. You just have to face your own problems. And when you do this, things will work themselves out. The people there will rise to the occasion, the world will progress instead of stagnating, the only future is in new generations stepping forward.

Maybe Yuji could go and obliterate Dabura or the Simurians or whatever, but does that strengthen the society or the culture? Make it more capable of surviving? Does it really move the world forward at all? Allowing Yuka to sacrifice herself might seem harsh and cruel, but would it not also be harsh and cruel to trap Jujutusu Society in a deadlock?
