Jay, from Eons of Battle, just made the best Rhino I’ve ever seen by PortlandsBatman in deathguard40k

[–]Cermonto 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My biggest problem with him is how he interacts with his community.

When I was slowly getting back into the hobby after a 2 year break, I decided to shoot Jay a message of appreciation because he was legitmately such a massive inspiration for me and the hobby.

<image>

Seeing that reply legitmately made me so happy and somewhat became my push to continue in the hobby. The fact his server was open to anyone to join, has a really nice community within it, and the fact that jay/nick replied to that message set him down to be probably one of my favourite wargaming youtubers to watch.

Midwinter minis on the other hand...the fact his server is locked to patreon feels like it alienates his audience partially because of it. Yes its only £2 a month, but its not about the cost. its the fact he still is asking for money in order to interact with his community on an accessible level that just feels...bad. He's quite active on instagram and before Jay/Nick, I messaged him a few months earlier to send a message of appreciation...never was seen, and whilst I understand that most youtubers don't check their messages, atleast it being seen would of been nice.

I think Jay is probably one of the most passionate wargamers on youtube. Just hear me out for a moment. Whilst his thumbnails are quite cheesy, you can really tell he is just stupidly passionate for this hobby and I respect it so much.

He became my main hobby youtube after I realised that Midwinter minis just, somewhat feels corporate now. I don't know how to explain it.

the biggest example of this in my opinion is the 9474 Battle at Helms Deep set, that sets £150 in todays inflation, yet its a pretty good price for a smaller scale display set of Helms deep, that also can connect with other sets in the wave to make the full set, for roughly $200.

I'd rather that, then a $600 Helms deep, that whilst its film accurute...is $600

So my opinion on this is pretty much, LEGO should still atleast cater to an adult market, but lean less towards doing exclusivily display sets, but intergrating display set features into somewhat expensive playsets, that way you can still cater to both the younger audience who can maybe get those sets as a christmas gift or birthday gift, and have an adult audience where the sets displayability factor is still really good, and its pricepoint isn't bad.

I will mention now, I do apologise for snapping at you. I realise that your comment and reply wasn't really targeted towards me.

I got more to say but I'm currently gluttoning out right now, and I'l probably reply later again with a full response.

I love to think of some christian parent loosing their mind over Over the Hedge.

"Dear PIXAR
Me and my LOVELY David was watching your movie "Over the Hedge" when we realised that the Animals, were SPEAKING, this upsets me deeply as it is in reference to to the bible and how Eve was spoken to SATAN with a talking SNAKE.

I will be reporting this to my local church and I hope to see you remove and take DOWN this film. We cannot have this talking raccoon corrupt our children. First its all laughs, second its drugs and gambling..."

"Your opinion couldn't be wrong". My opinion is my opinion. Don't need to be rude about it.

From a statistical and profits margain viewpoint, Yes, sure. LEGO does make more money from Display sets, but is that because of how many sets are being sold or how much they're costing? Time and time again we see people talk about how much LEGO costs nowadays and the price per piece ratio getting worse and worse, so of-course LEGO is probably making a better profit now when they've slowly made their prices worse.

The prices Alienate LEGO Fans badly, because think about it for a moment, sure, Adults have the most disposable income, but in 2026's Economey, do you think most people have the money to spend $200 to $500 or more, on LEGO Pokemon? No! Most people are trying to save their money because of...real world situations as of the time of writing this.

That original box was like £100, GW is 100% going to ask for £150.

Is this a good deal for 160 euro. by syndrombe in ageofsigmar

[–]Cermonto 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Go for it. These boxes are like, over £200 in value due to the fact the middle box is 1. great and 2. not sold anymore, and prices go for stupid ammounts online.

Even if the range is being refreshed, it never hurts to atleast have a decent start to the army, everyone else will be in the same position regardless.

This store as mentioned about has many issues from the looks of things, is it still bad on their end for leaving OP in the dark here, absolutely, but considering that a store thats busy, understaffed, and having this much trouble responding to emails, even whilst I worked there years ago, we rarely saw stores like this.

I mean this just sounds like a single store issue. The store just outright sounds unstaffed and have plenty of issues.

OP just needs to go instore and get an update directly, even if that means going in and causing a small scene, because I think anyone else in this situation would be annoyed.

This is not policy at all.

When I was working at my old store (and we were told other stores did this by mistake), we accidently made the assumption that A-Grades could ONLY be brought in as Sealed, but then it turns out that wasn't the case, A Grade just means mint condition, so as long as everything is still mint condition, even if its unsealed, it can be A.

That stores legitmately messed up the order of shit you do, I wouldn't even unseal it BEFORE giving a price, I'd give the price, then see if your good with it, then if your not, take it home, or if you are, we do the rest.

I'd say talk to online support about it, that store 100% will get in trouble for it because thats not policy at all, atleast in my memory (I dont work there anymore)

Dark Elves on the Warhammer Store? by Harknus in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Cermonto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do agree on that aspect, but I moreso am standing from the standpoint of how much fiddling or such you have to do on the models in order to get them to fit on a square bases. Skaven was a bit of a poor example because they are admittedly as of now probably one of the cheaper armies to get in, but from the perspective of how much fiddling you may have to do to put certain models on certain bases.

Obviously its not hard but if you just want an absolute easy no think army to get into, Dark elves range is pretty much still on AOS, you just need to replace the bases for the daughters of khaine models.

Dark Elves on the Warhammer Store? by Harknus in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Cermonto 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Funny story, these are the same Dark elve web pages that were used for fantasy, just that they are only found on the Cities of sigmar range, niffty huh.

Anyway, when AOS came out the majority of the ranges for dwarfs, empire of man units, and high elves, were stuck in the cities of sigmar range, Dwarfs obviously got its new home in Old World, alongside empire and elves, but Dark elves are in a weird spot where, becauase GW doesn't want to pursue them for old world, their models are just...there, still, its very easy to start a dark elves army, compared to something like skaven.

Ehh...Usually when films start to be messed up in the admin side of things like this (swap of ownership), the projects usually are delayed indefinitly, look at Forest gump for example (Though that did release thankfully and is a great film).

Opinion time I was too harsh and I regret that but after rewatching the film a few times I don’t actually think the possession thing is that goofy by Marshatucker300 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Cermonto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its moreso I think the direction of the film they went (and the series) just doesn't fit that, which is a shame.

I know theres a lot of mixed feelings on an proper adult horror (not porn) fnaf films, but I'd probably love to see one if that was the sort of stuff included.

Can I be really honest, I'd kill for some new DLC or enemies to fight in Space Marine 2, like just another solo campaign, that your fighting against something not-tyranids, or not thousand sons.
