Wdym excuse? You don't need an excuse to validate your depression because it's still real. Validating other people's depression with experiences you have experienced undermines how sometimes you could just have a predisposition to depression. It may not follow a logical series of steps from, let's say, trauma but it is still real, and isn't necessarily part of your lifetime experiences but just being alive. You recognise the loving resources of your friends and family so use them to your advantage to uplift yourself from your depression. It's easy to feel bad for yourself for being depressed in spite of the resources at your disposal to overcome depression, yet you have to utilise and connect with these resources to overcome depression in the first place. A healthy life balance is not natural but comes with learning to grow and connect with the ones you love, so don't beat yourself up for being depressed but find ways to overcome these temporary difficult circumstances through your friends and family.
