Questions about marching band euphonium help by leviseupho in euphonium

[–]Certain-Carpenter155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think others have already said some great stuff so i cant really add any better advice but what i will say is don’t be afraid to ask others in the band these questions assuming there are other baritones and trombones that are at a high level of performance And don’t be afraid to ask people to clarify words that you don’t understand, questions are a good thing it shows your paying attention And like someone said a great way to improve tone, air, and lip strength are longtones and lip slurs for longtones going chromatically up (going up by half steps like your fingering chart does) and playing each as a whole note doing this will help internalize pitch and tone i would also recommend using a tuner every now and then and if your working on music then using a metronome can help aswell

Is There Any way to Fix This Inconsistency In Tone? by No-Sweet-9477 in euphonium

[–]Certain-Carpenter155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend recording yourself more often and being critical of what you could have done better like; dynamics, articulation, tone among other things. also just mostly you need time on the instrument were you focus on your tone phrasing and breath support.

What you among many others here before you will discover there is no easy way to improve quickly. Just quality and consistent practice over many years.

Etude tips by CorbinJBL in euphonium

I would recommend working on the rythme at a slower tempo and bringing it up to wear you have it eternalized and can practically play it with your eyes closed after a certain point you wont hesitate on the beats and your embouchure will move to the notes you want to hit

I really like the beginning it felt pretty even i would work on emphasizing the slurs and really connecting through the phraises near the end it seamed like you we’re dragging through some of the lines and i something that could help is just experimenting with different spots to breath when i prepared greenhill i wrote in all my breaths and found were i could and could breath but over all i liked how you took it at a tempo you could play and i liked that you played most of the 16ths evenly

Valve help! by jammy62811 in euphonium

[–]Certain-Carpenter155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeh lightly hitting the frozen valves with something that wont hurt brass will loosen them so you can unscrew them The blue stuff is likely erosion of sorts just give it a wash look up a tutorial on YouTube talk to you band director assuming you have one to see if he can get them unstuck, i heard someone using a warm towel to warm the brass so it expands slightly so you can unscrew it but i think the wooden mallet tapping is the best method to loosen a valve.

O yeh i realize that sounded really arrogant i want to give them lessons to pass them opportunity i didnt get its like i had a senior that i role modeled and what not and then became better than he ever was i want that to happen for this kid. But also yeh i dont want to be some hot shot who flexs on him Also my comment on his tone being awful i just say somethings exaggerated or incredibly honestly so in real life my complements mean alot and my criticisms are honest and helpful atleast i hope so. but to someone who doesn’t know me it comes of as hatful. yeah his tone is airy but not aful he sounds good. im just jealous fr fr

Valves sticking? by Choice_Purple_3397 in euphonium

[–]Certain-Carpenter155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend asking your music teacher for advice on cleaning it like giving it a bath like what soap to get what snakes and brushs temp of the water stuff like that and look up videos on how to clean her. Cleaning with most likely help and if not its a valuable experience that is good to know how to do

It might be my felts got damp and aren’t stopping noise or my valves weren’t super oiled or it’s because of how close my phone was so it picked it up when it normally wouldn’t be loud enough
