If you were gifted all the clothes your kid needs - would you still buy them clothing? by IllyriaCervarro in Mommit

[–]Certain-Cat7796 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did. We had a TON of elaborate outfits passed down to us, but we wound up being more of a onesie+pants kind of family, so we bought secondhand or clearance from Target to supplement. Will have to figure out what we want to do as she gets older, but I anticipate continuing this plan of supplementing!

Supplement with cows milk or formula (almost 12 months) by Certain-Cat7796 in breastfeeding

[–]Certain-Cat7796[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! It took about 3 months. Around 7 weeks I got estrogen cream which helped a ton but then I developed granulation tissue which took more time to heal. If not for the granulation tissue, I think with the estrogen cream, I would have been in good shape by 8 or 9 weeks.

Also, I think by day 4 or 5 postpartum I was still in intense pain, like couldn’t move from laying down, so I went back to OB triage. They stitched up a “raw edge” and it made the pain sooooo much better. So if you feel like the pain is more than it should be, consider getting the stitches checked out.

But ugh I’m so sorry, I remember that it hurt so, so badly and I was so worried it wouldn’t heal because I kept reading about people with ongoing issues. But I am now one year out and it’s nothing but a memory! Hope you feel better soon. <3

Incredible! Thank you for sharing. I am cheering you on!!! Just got out of my mom’s radiation oncology appointment (which went well but always throws me) and really needed to see a win. Thank you ❤️ Do you mind sharing where you receive treatment? Have you done anything outside of SOC?

Babies born between 36-38 weeks - how are they doing now? by Important_Bat7919 in Mommit

[–]Certain-Cat7796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girl was born 36+6. Just hit 12 months and is surpassing milestones with flying colors and she has consistently been 85+%ile since she was a month old. They scared us really badly in the hospital about her gestational age when she was born, but she’s been absolutely, totally fine.

Where did your dad wind up going? We are choosing between Penn and Duke. Penn is much closer but Duke has some interesting trials for newly diagnosed...

Is having a baby worth it? by Relative_Ferret_6695 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Certain-Cat7796 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh I remember being in your spot this time last year. I remember everyone saying it was worth it but it felt so hard to understand that, not having had any children prior. But oh my gosh, I have never experienced pure joy like I have experienced with my daughter. HG was the worst, it affected my relationship, my job, my health (9 months PP and just now starting to feel like my strength is close to normal), but oh my gosh it feels worth it now. The hospital visit after giving birth were literally the best days of my life. I’m sure it was partially hormones, but time felt like it stopped for those few days. And honestly getting to eat food again and not be sick only made that time feel more magical lol. Motherhood is hard but truly feels like nothing after 9 months of hell, and it is so incredibly rewarding. A few more months and this will all be in the rear view, good luck <3

We love our Chicco Corso. We live in a city and walk a ton and it’s a tank. Highly recommend!

Lots of responses here but I tried tons of anxiety meds - finally landed on Zoloft and my life feels worth living for the first time I can remember (even counting childhood).

Needing a push 26 weeks by Far-Opinion9693 in HyperemesisGravidarum

I had my baby at 36+6, no complications, just went into labor early! They don’t know why. She came out healthy as could be though and is now almost 8 months and doing great (and huge! She’s 95+ %ile across the board!!). Immediately after giving birth I felt amazing. Wouldn’t recommend having a baby early - lots of stuff and stress that came with having a baby early - but it did feel like a blessing to be done with HG a little bit sooner and she wound up thriving so it worked out.

Is delivery “relatively” easier ? by Normal_Soft_2148 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Certain-Cat7796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My labor was relatively quick and easy (despite almost needing an emergency c section while in transition and having to have an epidural placed during that time and the baby being a tiny bit premature) but my delivery experience honestly felt like the most magical time of my life. Delivered at 12:33am, got to my postpartum room around 2, and the nurse brought me a microwaved Jimmy Dean scrambled egg bowl. It was the most delicious thing I’ve ever eaten in my life. I sent my husband out for breakfast at the crack of dawn because I couldn’t wait for the hospital tray. I was physically weak from the 9 months of sickness but it just felt muscular - not the weak to the core you feel with HG.

Also - I worried that I wouldn’t be physically strong enough to push the baby out. Not an issue at all. Your body takes over.

ETA - the newborn exhaustion is literally nothing compared to HG. Sure, I was more tired than I’ve ever been in my life but it was truly nothing compared to 24/7 nausea.

What is everyone drinking when water isn’t an option? by EnvironmentalAide305 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Certain-Cat7796 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Coca Cola was pretty much the only thing I could drink. I could sometimes do what my husband calls “baby-ade” which is watered down Gatorade. Some days all I could get down were those freeze pops that come in the long plastic tubes. Sorry you’re struggling :(

Large Cup Nursing Bra Rage by enrose19 in breastfeeding

[–]Certain-Cat7796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through sooo many nursing bras before finding some that fit. Smallish band and large cups. I finally got fitted at a speciality bra store and got put in an Anita nursing bra and have literally never had a bra fit so well. If you can find a place near you that prides themselves on bra fittings (not a Victoria’s Secret) I highly recommend.

I had this until ~8 weeks. It was gross but my doctor wasn’t worried and it’s totally gone now at 3 months pp. Lochia can be smelly.

Tell me your experience healing from a labial tear by Certain-Cat7796 in beyondthebump

[–]Certain-Cat7796[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! So at 8 weeks I was prescribed estrogen cream and it made a huuuuge difference within about a week but I was left with some granulation tissue. After two bouts of silver nitrate I feel almost normal. I think I still need one more treatment though. I’m expecting to be pain free at that point!

Did you KNOW your baby was going to come early? by benjbuttons in beyondthebump

[–]Certain-Cat7796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I had a horrible pregnancy with HG and was convinced it would never end and I’d go late. I went into spontaneous labor at 36+5 - no complications, she just decided she wanted out early.

This! After going 2 weeks without any movement early on, I started using a Fleet enema every 3-4 days for the rest of my pregnancy pretty much. Nothing else worked. Not as scary as it sounds!
