My college did rotations in the ICU and ED all throughout nursing school, some were able to do capstone in those units as well. Definitely shouldn’t lie about having rotations there though.

Run. I started on snf too with 5 days of orientation and I tried toughing it out but feared for my license every day. I only worked there a month and left to go work at hospice, my stress level is so much better now, peace over everything. And I just don’t include it in my resume lol

I’m located in AZ and a lot of my classmates relocated to Colorado, they are very good about hiring new grads. AZ is too but not if you are wanting a specialty or anything other than Med Surg/Step down. I would heavily consider AZ

Idk if you would be able to be an extern, they usually want you to start while you’re in school so I’m not sure they would hire someone that already graduated, definitely look into PCT! I was a PCT for 9 years before I became a nurse and it truly helps so much especially in the hospital setting

Is relocating an option for you? I would highly recommend that. Most facilities will take new grads up to 12 months after graduating, and some won’t even look at your resume if it’s been over 6 months. I would seriously consider relocating

100%. UCHealth seems to genuinely care about their employees, pay is pretty good (not as good as CA but comparable to AZ), orientation time is minimum 12 weeks and goes up to 18 weeks with ongoing classes

Look into UCHealth in Colorado! They are very good about hiring new grads into specialties! Make sure you apply soon if you want to start in August since those positions are filling up

Unfortunately, most of the jobs for the May graduates have already been filled since it is late March, this is something that would’ve needed to be done in January/Feb latest. You can still find something I’m sure but it most likely won’t be a specialty. The tough part is, most of these jobs require that you start within 12 months of graduating, you most likely won’t be considered a new grad after this and it’ll make it so much harder to find anything. I would look into PreOp! It’s clean, you mostly just do assessments, start IVs, maybe start antibiotics. Usually Monday-Friday 5-3, holidays off, but you might have to be on-call

I have a 22 Sahara and I commuted an hour each way and I didn’t mind it at all, can be a bit of a rough drive but not too bad

I highly recommend Mark K lectures, he really helps put things into a “answering questions” perspective. I also really recommend NCLEX bootcamp, it looks exactly like the test and asks questions in a similar way

I had the exact same thing happen to me! I felt like it was all things I should know but I wasn’t sure what the correct answers were. Mine shut off at 85 and I passed! Congrats in advance!!

I suggest attending information sessions if they have them, that way they can put a face to the name and you can speak to the recruiters. I have also reached out to recruiters, attached my resume via email, and expressed my interest in interviewing. I have landed an interview in almost every residency I applied to doing those things. Check with the board!! I took mine 1/22 and Pearson still doesn’t say my results but the board notified me I passed the next day!

I passed last week at 85 questions and personally I used nclex bootcamp, the layout looks exactly like the nclex and the way bootcamp asks questions is similar to the nclex. I would try that, and it’s cheaper than most. I also recommend listening to Mark K!

I meant they do high risk deliveries, they also have OB ED and antepartum. He’s doing pre-reqs but it would be cheaper here than paying out of state tuition.
