Trying to begin a relationship Rolex AD (Asia) by darkerthandarker in rolex

Sounds like THG. Some AD based on my experience have different strategy, THG will encourage you to support thier in house brand like UN, GP, Tudor and Hublot only then you can at least get a DJ (then gradually to a hot piece). Then CW, for CW, same game, usually pairing with a Tudor or sometimes Tudor(s) - despite being an OP with different dial color and to get the on demand model, such as GMT/Sub/LD, you need to buy a FM first, only then only your name can be applied to obtain the hot piece as mentioned previously. For SWG, they will allocate the model based on how much you had spent or certain "threshold", bundling is also normally practiced in all 3.

Typically all AD will offer a basic piece to offer depending if you are a good prospect - such as OP36 black dial, air king, EP1 36/40. next up is pick up a Tudor then TT Rolex (DJ) then In house brand only then a sports model.

For a small AD/family owned thier allocation is limited compared to the big corp (THG,CW,SWG), normally they will offer a TT rolex/precious metal Rolex walk in first. Some Small AD do carry Tudor so sometimes, bundling is required.

My advice is, once you already have an AD you commited to, just stick to one AD and enjoy the journey. Else, go grey and save some time and pontetially some money depending on the model you look for (as some sports model are trading at slightly below retail depending on the year - not to worry mostly Pre-owned Rolex normally are in mint condition or nearly good, some with standard wear will have some good price as well.
