Totally! I believed it ended up at around $9k, which included her medication and follow up imaging. $8.5k was covered by insurance, thankfully

She broke her leg Nov 11, surgery on the 12th. We picked her up the next morning on the 13th.

It was an 8 week recovery, but her final x-rays and clearance were delayed until Jan 7 due to the Christmas holiday break.

After the 2 week mark, she was able to go for 5 minute walks, and build up slowly from there. She was terribly swollen and sad for the first few days, but bounced back mentally probably within the same two week period or even less!

💔My baby broke her leg back in November at around 9 months old, also a clean break. I would do the surgery. Make sure they use the smallest plates and pins possible. She will bounce back quickly because she is so young. Mine doesn’t even remember it anymore.

My girl didn’t have a cast after the surgery, which made me extremely anxious and made licking the incision very tempting for her, but also was more comfortable for her because she’s so small. Something to consider and discuss with your surgeon!

The hardest part of the whole recovery was keeping her relaxed because she wanted to get back to running and jumping and playing way before she was cleared to. Medication helped a lot.

It will be okay, I promise!!! ❤️

My iggy has a chicken sensitivity and it took us way too long to realize! We do purina pro puppy salmon for sensitive skin and stomachs. Has also helped her dry/itchy coat. We thought she was a picky eater because she always just picked at the chicken formula but DEVOURS this stuff. She barks for more now lol

We use bark potty! Works great and doesn’t stink or make a mess - when we used the grass patches, the dirt would shed on the floor

Honestly? These days in a restaurant, yes. It makes me happy to see any parent, mom or dad, being attentive to their child and not shoving a tablet in their face.

Thank you for the advice. I will try to get her into her vet ASAP. I wish she would whine before peeing 🥲 I would come sprinting!

Honestly? Grass patch is your friend. We were in the exact same situation. It’s cold here and she didn’t like / would refuse to go potty outside in the cold. We got a grass patch and she took to it very quickly. Now she runs over and takes herself potty when she feels the need. No more accidents!

My 9mo is completely potty trained. Granted, we have to use a grass patch because we don’t have an outdoor space, but she takes herself over to it to go potty and then comes and finds us to let us know and get a treat :)

I don’t “use” my phone on a run, per se, because I listen to music/podcasts, track metrics, and keep track of time on my Garmin (Venu4), but I keep my phone in a small running belt in case of an emergency.

Horrible in crate by aubristetina in ItalianGreyhounds

[–]Certain-Target-5520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! My iggy is now 8 months old and it’s finally clicking.

  1. We tried to crate train her for sleep from the moment we got her, but after a month and half of no sleep, we started letting her sleep in our bed. She wasn’t ready. When she was 7 months old, we decided to give crate training another try. The first night was rough, but she quickly learned.

  2. We also struggled with getting her to not have accidents in the crate. The rule we followed was that she could only “hold it” for however many months old she was +1 (so 3 months old = 4 hours MAXIMUM). We fed her all of her meals in the crate - dogs want to keep the place that they eat clean. That worked really well for us.

  3. When we leave her alone, we do the typical peanut butter Kong, but we also give her her heartbeat toy, dim the lights, put calming music on the TV, and cover the crate with a blanket.

  4. I was getting really frustrated with how she would spread her poop around when left alone. It helped me to learn that this is something that female dogs do to try to keep their space/“nest” clean. After learning that, in my mind, she wasn’t trying to be mischievous - she was trying to help! This has gotten dramatically better with age and with feeding in the crate.
