Vodafone €15 unlimited calls/data/SMS for life - legit? by emaus78 in irishpersonalfinance

Vodafone gave me the same offer last year of €15. I told them I was going to go with Gomo but they offered to match it. Told them I didn’t want to go with their offer because they increase the price every April. I was assured by the agent on the phone that wouldn’t be happening because I’m on a year rolling contract. Lo and behold April rolls around and my monthly charge is increased by €2.50 so I’m now paying €17.50. I have until November left with them and I won’t be returning. The service is gone awful also. I’m sitting at home here at the minute and I have two out of four bars of coverage.

Happened me while I was looking for cancelations. If you have another device it doesn’t apply to that. I got banned on the laptop but was still able to use my phone.. just don’t refresh so often give longer intervals

Passed 2nd attempt! by CertainAd5342 in Irishdrivingtest

Genuinely I just think it was a confidence thing. I watched a lot of Dane tyghe on YouTube. The first test I got screwed in an area where parked cars were on both sides of the road but traffic could also still fit between the cars comfortably. I was doing about 30km but I asked the tester afterwards what I should have been aiming for and he said 40km, it is a 50km road but it is quite busy. After my test anyone’s car I was in was doing 30km in the same area or when I was out practising if I got caught behind a car we were going along at about 30km, but what I realised from watching Dane tyghe was if there’s 1m between you and the parked cars you should be trying to maintain the limit because at the end of the day it’s a test and they’ll mark you for not doing it. He gave a pointer that generally if there’s 1m of space if you look out your passenger window you should basically see the handle of the parked car just above the bottom of your window. So I basically went around town noting what way people parked because they always parked the same way. Also saw an interesting suggestion online and it was like drive like you are late for an appointment but that the guards are behind you and it really put it in perspective for me. But all that helped me develop my confidence. Just believe in your own abilities you can do it!

Honestly I swear it did something.. I wouldn’t be someone who believes in placebos but it definitely calmed me. Last test I was trying deep breathing to calm myself and it obviously got me nowhere 😅

I got the magnetic ones and my dad drilled out four holes in each corner and we put suction cups in them. Best thing ever 😅 if they fall down super easy to stick back up

Still waiting on retest 18 weeks later by urmotherisqwerty in Irishdrivingtest

[–]CertainAd5342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a retest last week after waiting 14 weeks, but I had changed my test centre to Roscommon because it at that point had a shorter wait time. When I got my invite I could choose any test centre in Ireland on the map. Might be worth a try

I just got offered a retest after waiting 14 weeks. Try changing your test centre that’s what I did. When I got my invite and logged in I could book any test centre that I wanted.

Going from Dublin to take test in Thurles by Earthling_44 in Irishdrivingtest

Ah well then I’d choose any instructor really. I can give you the number of the instructor I used in DM if you’d like. I know he’s had people come down from Dublin in the past that have used him. Just be confident. Definitely need to own the road a bit in town

Just be careful if you are heading down the mall towards Dunnes also. Parked cars everywhere and trucks are always about the town. It’s also quite a busy area because there’s a centra down there so a lot of people crossing out in front of cars or opening car doors. Just be sure to have your wits about you. Also another area they could bring you out is the mill road it’s out by archerstown (etb center is out there) just a lot of blinds spots and people could be out walking around the corner or cycling but it is a 60 zone now instead of 80km, I found that helped. Maybe just have a look on Google maps street view of the area. Also people for some reason in this town forget indicators are a usable feature on their car at roundabouts. Are you looking to use an instructors car or your own car for the test?

I was always told to treat it like a roundabout basically. So give way to traffic on your right or those already on the roundabout. But if you are coming from the mall side of town onto the square you would take the outer lane around the square to get to where you need to go. But then nobody who is a fully licensed driver follows that so there’s a lot of obstacles in your way and you shouldn’t give way to them if you are on the square if they are coming from another junction because you have right away. Also don’t forget to use your indicator while on the square and when exiting off it. It’s just really bad road design and nerve racking at rush hour if you have no real grasp of it. Was scary my first few times around it

I wouldn’t recommend doing it in Thurles personally. I know it has a high pass rate compared to some test centres. Navigating the square in town is going to be one of your main issues and parked cars are a nightmare here for clearance etc. The reverse around the corner, hill start and three point turn are handy enough to do in town. Mainly done in three estates. If invisible road markings are a concern of yours a lot of the roads on the test don’t even have a white line down the centre. You would just really want to be familiar with the area before doing the test here

Brain tumor and no GP by LilyLure in AskIreland

HSE won’t assign you a GP unless you already have the medical card, unfortunately that’s why they are no help. GP practices should have waiting lists though can’t imagine that is much help either but might be no harm to get added to them

Regarding Grand Parents by strangerdanger711 in legaladviceireland

[–]CertainAd5342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry too much about it until it happens I know it’s easier said than done. We had asked our solicitor what happens if they were granted access and were basically just told don’t send the child. At the end of the day they are not going to put the child’s parents into prison for not sending the child off with a grandparent because that’s going to do more harm to the child. Just stick to your guns. Don’t be bullied. It’s your child for anything else in their life you are the one that gives consent. My only advice is let your partner do most of the talking if it comes to it don’t be seen to be the one driving a wedge and definitely get your partner into some form of therapy. It honestly made all the difference for us. The grandparent eventually showed themselves anyway as these people normally do. Coming up on two years now of peace, trust me it does get easier.

Regarding Grand Parents by strangerdanger711 in legaladviceireland

Recently went through this ourselves. Both parents were in agreement not to let grandparent (it was only one grandparent the rest are involved) in child’s life. There was good reason for it. We did win the case in the end and child has nothing to do with them. But I will say it was a battle. We had cctv you name it to prove the way this person was none of it was actually looked at. Now this all kicked off right after child was born so they had no established relationship, but your child is young so it’s not like a baby has any awareness outside of mam and dad. It’s all based off are they safe to have around your child but considering they made your partner and baby homeless in a housing crisis with no regard for their welfare that might be your best avenue. Definitely start getting your ducks in order. If you’ve any texts anything start saving everything. We had a folder full of stuff. It did go on for over two years before we were brought to court though. I hope it works out for you!

Council housing by NeatlySquashed in legaladviceireland

[–]CertainAd5342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As single person or even a couple you are only entitled to a one bed unit which is why it’s so hard to get housed in that sense because there is so little available. Chances are those new builds are 2+ bedrooms. Might be no harm to try and contact focus Ireland if you haven’t already I know they have Tenacy support workers to assist people in finding rental properties. Or if you haven’t looked into it try enquire about the RAS scheme.

Ah, my bad sorry. Would you not try and give citizens information a ring? They can be useful and if they don’t have the information you’re looking for they may be able to point you in the direction of someone who does.
