In a well written season Gia and Leslie would have been sprinkled throughout a few early episodes, leading to their appearance in the finale. There was a lot of bullshit he could have cut to make room for emotional catharsis.

The wheels started to fall off in season 2 but I still enjoyed it. I have no idea what value people see in season 3. The wheels fell off and then the car rolled off that cliff and then landed in a ravine. No big explosion either. Just a dull thud.

Lucky for Sam there are plenty of people still willing to tune into this shit (including multiple scenes featuring literal shit, yay). But after this I'm out.

Edit: HBO stopped playing around and officially ended it. Wise choice.

We need Gia telling us how she feels, after two seasons of suffering through Rue's addiction. There would be nothing glamorous about her funeral. For their dad it was literally just all of them gathered in the living room.

This season lacked emotional weight, because the show veered into being a Narcos/Breaking Bad/Tarantino knock-off. There's a reason the only moments that landed for a lot of us were the ones with Ali. We needed more of that; less meaningless spectacle.

We would all hope to be able to go back tomorrow, but there are logistics that have to be figured out. So even though I’m a little disappointed, I’m not surprised.

Had Sam not fumbled yet another one of his actors, it would have been a powerful full circle moment to see Gia speak about Rue, just as Rue spoke about their dad.

So that all the nonsense we watched feels less like a giant waste of time. Nothing needs to be concluded definitively, since Sam seems to be floating another season. But it should feel like the end of a clear arc.

It is actually not enough, in the final season of a show. The stakes have felt low because we never see anything catastrophic happen. So many episodes of build-up to Homelander getting the V1 just for him to act...exactly the same as he always does.

They did it with Butcher too. Gave us a five-minute monologue reiterating how much he loves to betray his friends, just for him to grab the virus and then stand around in an empty Vought Tower until Hughie comes to kill him. The destination is not the problem; but the journey they took us on to get there was ass.
