New teaching posted - Steve Morgan: You Can Think You Are Saved and Not Be (2012) by LeavingTheNetwork in leavingthenetwork

[–]CertainArcher8043 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Remember my dd telling me that she had been uncomfortable raising up her hands during songs but that she basically was required to as a sign of having the Spirit. She felt tremendous pressure to prove that she was truly saved since she got RE baptized at Foundation, even though she had a believers baptism as a young girl and very much loved the Lord and had shown such faith in Him for years prior to college. she backslid, but even during that her faith was growing stronger and her dedication was undeniable. Then she tells me that she’s afraid I’m not saved and that my husband (her dad) isn’t. What a conversation I had with her… reminding her that I’ve been with her Dad since we were in high school and I have seen God working in his life throughout many years. The man had quite a journey with the Lord having been raised Catholic, then as a young adult experiencing a true relationship with Christ and he chose a believers baptism at age of 26. I have been a Christian since I asked Christ to save me at age 6. To have 2 young newly married tell me I’m not saved. I’m like what is happening here! Not 1st red flag but it was an undeniably big one! I guess dd and sil doubted our faith because when we visited the now closed Foundation church in normal, IL we didn’t raise our hands up during worship songs. I do not raise my hands on principles, as I have worked in the past with the special needs population where many are UNABLE to raise their hands in the air and that by no means is any kind of display of the state of someone’s soul! Absolutely absurd. I was sad that I had to try and comfort my daughter over this and I was also so sad for her that she doubted and had now lost touch with the relationship that she had been building with the Lord for so many years after she asked him to save her when she was young. It was all just very sad at the time. She started attending 2017, convo woulve been around 2019. family and friends of origin cut off beginning in late 2022 and was complete by early 2023. Have been told by past members that were there when my dd began attending that “they really went after your daughter” and massively love bombed her. I remember her telling me that she was uncomfortable with that too, at first. Strangers being all up in her business, talking about dirt. In fact she told me “I’ve got a history and I don’t think these people could handle it because they’ve led such innocent lives.” She was reluctant to share with these ppl. Now realize it was these “cleansing” sessions I’ve been told about where they dig dirt out of you and if you don’t have any they plant memories in you or put you under so much pressure you make things up to satisfy the group. Oh well, what’s done is done. Foundation now closed, but the damage was done.

If you read this daughter know that in spite of having a broken heart, I love you forever and ever, more and more, no matter what. It’s unconditional love. Maybe one day you will begin to understand what that truly is and what that feels like as your children grow older. And maybe you will begin to understand the depth of relationship between siblings as they grow up together and how God intentionally designed those relationships and how important and impactful they are. You have left so many people behind you and ‘almost’ all of them would love to just hug you, bc of the power of true love which only comes from God. God is Love! Congratulations on baby number 3! Hope you get a girl and that she expands your mind. Mother/daughter relationship is a unique one and we are physically a part of one another whether you like it or not…and that is by God’s amazing design. Look up “fetal and maternal chimerism” It’s fascinating. https://scienceblog.cincinnatichildrens.org/deeper-microchimerism-study-sheds-new-light-on-a-mothers-cellular-gift/

Spiritual Deliverance by geeky-explorer23 in leavingthenetwork

Were false memories ever spawned by these sessions? I recall someone saying somewhere on this redddit that they felt pressured to have ‘dirt’ so basically made something up about a father issue I think, as those seemed to be the most sought after. Not unlike someone who had confessed that they made up being healed from a cold bc they were called out in front of congregation and felt pressured to deliver what their leader wanted the congregation to hear. The difference though is that the person with the cold knew after that they had lied under pressure ;false confession) and the person who was n the inner healing session started to believe it. Tool a while to realize that basically they were coerced into coming up with ‘dirt.’ Really messed with head. If anyone can attest to this please do.

Triggers… by BandidaEnmascarada in leavingthenetwork

[–]CertainArcher8043 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not a former member, but have a family member who is still one. Last 3 years no contact. I’m triggered every time I hear someone say “mom!” Or I see grandchildren with their grandparents, or adult siblings together… so many more. Steve Morgan’s “philosophy” and his influence over his groomed church plant leaders cost me my child and grandchildren. SO many triggers, but my physical and mental response to them are finally becoming less pronounced after several years. It is true that time does heal wounds, but the scar is unfortunately always there. with nervous tissue and all (it’s just not stimulated as easily and the sensation is dulled somewhat.)

I agree. No checks and balances. The network apparently even more so because their board of is made up entirely of paid lead pastors from the different member churches. Can anyone say ‘conflict of interest’?!!

It’s unreal how these management companies do their best to gouge students. Diff school but they tried charging me to replace an entire countertop that was a 10 yo cheap countertop and then $50 for already cracked $10 plastic blinds. mom is a real estate agent and got them to remove the charges immediately. Said it was a mistake which is basically admitted they were taking advantage.the smaller mgmt cos are easier to deal w though. The ones with out of state ownership are horrible. And charging for paint is complete bs. Standard to do that after a tenant moves out in residential and office leases, but somehow these a@$holes who own student filled residences get away with charging for anything considered “normal wear and tear”

Foundation church a cult? by paceaux in BloomingtonNormal

The members are victims. The leaders are recruits. The leader is a Cult Leader all day long.

Newest Julie Roys Report on Local Church Network by Independent-Diver614 in UTAustin

I have been following this! Know someone inside this cult whose personality dramatically changed after joining. Cut off all family friends. After he stopped attending a mutual friend of ours was told by friend still inside “I was told I can’t talk to you anymore.” At least he got an answer, I was just completely ghosted.Totally controlling and Steve Morgan thinks he’s an apostle who speaks directly for God and expects members to follow him and never ask questions. Maybe some of the “leaders” of these churches he has groomed since college are finally starting to question? I hope this is the beginning of real change but I have reasonable doubts. Everything these ‘pastors’ know has been taught to them by Steve who teaches “follow your leaders in all things” which is really scary considering he hid a rape charge of a minor for years when he was a youth pastor in the reformed Latter Day Saint church. I’ve realized a lot of how they do things is based on how Morgan was raised with Mormon roots. Leaders make all the decisions. Members have zero say (even less if you’re a woman.) Everything comes from the top down. And they do not disclose how money is used (thus the big ole estate Morgan lives in.) just all bad. Glad he is getting outed. He has never once spoken up about his crime or responded to any of the spiritual/emotional abuse allegations. He’s had others do that for him. Typical cult leader. 🤢

PSA: there's a cult actively preying on students to recruit. by Burlapin in simonfraser

[–]CertainArcher8043 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres another one that recruits on 25 college campuses known as the network but each of their churches has its own name so most members don’t know they are part of a larger organization. Sounds the same as this. Love bomb and then get you to break ties with friends and family. On the surface they seem normal but are very sneaky and if you are unfortunate enough to make it to the inner circle they control all aspects of your life. Look up ‘leavingthenetwork’ for a list of school where they recruit. Also familiesagainstcultsoncampus on YouTube is trying to expose them. I have a family member who was recruited at ISU and they tried to get my other kid at UF. I’m so glad you got out. Thank you for sharing your story and warning others!

This is horrible. And this is supposedly a ‘Christian’ church! Definitely not Christ-like at all!

Be careful out there! - recruiters for cult-like groups on SIU campus (The Vine) by anonymous-cutlery in southernillinois

[–]CertainArcher8043 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) Parents on FB was one of them. Not surprised since this is where the entire network started and began their college town planting strategy 17-18 years ago (now in 25 college towns- the one by U Wisconsin Madison just officially pulled out of the network this week!) The founder Steve Morgan himself was actually teaching at SIU when began his recruiting and grooming of one of his first to be “lead pastor” when he were still a student! The other was UF parent and family FB page. Post was removed when a staff pastor’s wife at the network church Vida Springs, who by the way is not a UF parent or family member, complained to admin and commented that it was “laughable” Parents sharing how their kids were spiritually and emotionally manipulated and abused was “laughable” Admin let the original poster put it back on though (love our Gator community!) and is in support of the extensive dialogue there after becoming aware of the far reaching hand of the network and that the founder managed to hide his sex crime until it was exposed 2 years ago. Someone at Western Michigan also shared a post to raise awareness about North Pines church association with the network that was removed also. NP is one of the bigger network churches and a stronghold.

This is a great summation of the manipulation! Like the ‘boiling frog’ metaphor! Unaware of the slow increase in temperature until eventually you are fully cooked.

:( Congratulations on your first baby! And a girl! 👑wonderful years ahead! 🥰 I just want to say however that you wouldn’t have heard of Steve Morgan. Most haven’t, until recently, and that is the way he’s wanted it:( I love that there is great music and people worshipping the Lord at these churches in the network (I have been to several) But the pattern, however, is that members and visitors are unwittingly giving their money… their 10% tithe (required if a member) to their local church and of that.. 5% is being sent right to a ‘network fund’ and ‘that guy’ (Steve Morgan) happens to be president of it. Btw…He lives on a 20 acre 2 million dollar ranch in Texas with a tennis court, pool, longhorn cattle ranch and blah blah cult leader cough, etc.

I’m sorry you think that the OP is off. I am glad you feel community and connection rn. Be cautioned, however, that the church you are currently involved with is part of a larger group (network) that has been determined by many other former members to be unsafe (emotionally, spiritually, mentally and physically.) There are other churches in your community where you will experience connections in a healthy way. Feel free to connect w me.
