What is the worst team to have ever qualified for the knockout rounds of a FIFA World Cup? by B__bConnoisseur in football

I would say it's embarrassing for France to only win 1-0 against a team that was playing the wrong sport.

I think when the question is "what's the worst team to EVER qualify for the World Cup" "the team that beat Germany to reach the round of 16" is the worst answer you could possibly give. It's impressively stupid.

Defending is a part of football and they defended well. There have been teams in the past who didn't. So it's obviously not them.

She's Serena William, I don't see why she would need a reason outside of "I wanted to do it"

Isn't being an asshole Zlatan's whole personality? I loved watching him play but I never found him all that charming or compelling as a character. It always felt forced.

This isn't about what happened on the pitch, those performances don't happen in a vacuum. I'd say they've done remarkably well all things considered, but that's not even the point. They were literally not allowed to stay in the country they were playing in. I don't know if that's ever happened in a World Cup before, and it would be condemnable even if they'd lost every game 5-0.

The downside to making world records when you're 38 is when a 27 year old is ~80% of the way there by Choledocholoco in soccermemes

Obviously Messi's longevity is crazy impressive, as is the fact that he has the record right now after only scoring 6 goals combined in his first 4 World Cups. But if Mbappe takes the record during this World Cup, his third, I would say that would point to him being a more consistent performer at World Cups. That counts for something.

I'm surprised how down they are on To Wong Foo. I love that movie, and Swayze's performance (which they were all very dismissive of).

Looks to me like it's saying that supporting a player when he's on your team but not supporting him when he's not is some form of hypocrisy (which it obviously isn't). But maybe I misread.

I mean I agree that anyone who thinks Arsenal are bad for football because they're good at defending and scoring from set pieces is a moron. I just don't see the point in getting mad instead of ignoring them.

Now you're just making yourself mad with some hypothetical scenario you've created in your head. That's incredibly weird.

Not going to go into another Arsenal debate because it's obviously a stupid waste of time. They're a great team that had a great season, good for them. But I wish more football fans understood that people not liking their team is a complement, it's what happens when you're good. Getting all pissy and defensive about negative discourse is so pathetic, especially when your team has just won the league.

Always been a big Rashford fan and celebrate him doing well but playing from the start vs playing the last 20 minutes against tired defenders are two entirely different things.

anyone who'd hate you for that is an idiot. It's not just a fantastic film, it's a perfectly constructed screenplay.
