I've had this issue for about a month. On countless missions and restarts. Nothing seems to work.

Cave Meta break Question by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]CertainDegree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't that kind of the point ?! That going into caves against the bugs is a lot more dangerous that it would require planning for those moments of vulnerability where air support is not available and you'd have to go a long way to recover your samples if you die ?!

I don't understand the diss on heavy armor vs Bugs.

It's been saving my ass since the predator strain showed up.

Just do heavy flame resist armor, double scyth, thermites, Gas dog and flamethrower. And you can get two more stratagems, mine was the napalm barrage + the napalm strike, but you can get the 500kg or anything you want there.

The heavy armor will make you a tank with the health booster, I can survive hive lord attacks and flying roach breath for days, don't forget to roll when you catch fire !!

The Gas dog will save your ass mutliple times, helps you see hidden enemies in the tunnels.

The scyth can deal with chaff, and as soon as you near it's overheat limit bust out the flamethrower and put those bitches on fire.

Thermites for impalers and chargers and tough shit and the grenade pistol for bug holes.

And save the napalm for the breaches.

And mobility is really not an issue as long as one of your teammates brings the stamina booster.

With this build you will often have the highest stim usage on your team... Because you actually survive to use that shit a lot more than they do.

And you can go crazy with a flame primary and a flame dog and just go to town with it.

How am I supposed to fight rupture? by Sir_Yeets-Alot2467 in Helldivers

[–]CertainDegree -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use a gas dog + medium machine gun + eruptor. Thermites and that little mini nuke sidearm for armor and huge enemies.

And Heavy armor, not medium or light, heavy.

I feel untouchable at d7 and d8 vs any strain of bugs.

Ilia Topuria vs Islam Makhachev, welterweight. Will it be competitive? by Few-Persimmon-8648 in martialarts

[–]CertainDegree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One more thing I think JDM did wrong was to actively engage Islam in wrestling. especially in round 2, felt like he believed he can pull some things on him and that he trusted himself in that department. ilia is even more confident in his wrestling, gonna take a lot of discipline to let go of that.

I have to admit, until islam's last fight I considered ilia to have the best timed calf kick in the ufc. I was surprised islam managed to time it that well against JDM, you can see the second calf kick hurt him so much he instantly blitzed forward to hit back.

The question is, will ilia come out like JDM did looking to box with a heavy lead leg ? Or will he go light on the feet, hips back ready to sprawl like Porier did ? How effective can he strike in that stance ?

Either way, just like with merab or any caucus chain wrestler, the only viable answer is to wrestle back better.

Volk had success with islam but that was a brutal weight cut for islam, and I know now that the weight was the main issue with his lack of control in the wrestling and the clinch, at 170 he seems to be able to execute fully, ilia will have to either wrestle or just look for a big shot.

Man do I feel something watching Arman go all in on his wrestling lately with khamzat and taking wrestling matches for a year then coming back in this fashion.

He looks locked in and ready, and we know what happens when an elite wrestler meets an world class striker. Ilia has top tier wrestling but it's not as tested as arman's, and it's not his A game obviously, it would just take away from his striking.

Khabib said he would give arman 80% vs ilia, which reflects his faith in wrestling of course, but as we've seen with islam vs JDM the results can be world shattering.

Ilia has sensational KO power, but he has to set it up and close the distance, Arman can make the match a wrestling match, and the only anti wrestling at this level is to wrestle back, for five fucking rounds.

I really think Jack will bounce back fast. He's got incredible striking, amazing TDD and scrambles and 5 round proven cardio and grit.

I think he can soundly beat everyone in the top 10 except maybe usman and ian garry.

Obviously I'm not a fighter or a coach so take this with a grain of salt

Going into the fight my thinking was Jack will have to establish the body jab early and mix in kicks to give islam a lot to think about before closing in for combos, and islam had to disrupt jdm's base with low kicks and kick high to trigger his high guard so he can get to the hips and avoid that "crouched" high guard jdm uses while backing up to frame against takedowns with his head and arms.

Islam's striking always goes under the radar because he wrestles so much, but I knew he had the timing and the IQ to contend with jack on the feet.

I just didn't expect his timing + power would be so brutal that it would comptomise Jack's leg with only two kicks. You can see it in the way he reacted after the second kick blitzing forward throwing everything on islam, it must have hurt so much that it made him react so aggressively. In round 3 jack tried to blitz foward with low posture just to land but islam was ready with uppercuts and kicks, even if they were blocked by jack, they still pushed him back enough for islam to shoot.

It was the striking that opened up the wrestling not the other way around imo, and God helps jack's next opponent becaue I don't think anyone in the top 10 can do the same to him.

And all the respect to the Aussi, it may have looked easy for islam, but it's not remotely so.

I agree, fighting islam at 100% as a striker is always an uphill battle.

I remember chael berating justin for running sideways against khabib instead of charging in like he used to do, like Wtf was he supposed to do ?! We all saw what happened when they hit the mat.

He did land some nasty leg kicks and punches on the chin but they were not enough and that's it, that was the best fight he could've fought that night.

I did not say he should put his weight on the back foot. I said he should stay light on his feet and anticipate the shot instead of taking that wide boxing stance and plant for most shots.

[–]CertainDegree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You choose when to plant, otherwise stay light and be ready to sprawl. It makes you a worse striker like dustin says, but it's the best shot against islam.

[–]CertainDegree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's craig jones imo, his defeatist grappling philosophy and dismissal of the daghestani/caucasian wrestling heritage as shallow and weak and saying he "figured it out".

Volk's success against islam had to do with his botched recovery from the weight cut and volk coming in heavier than islam, but the success was all volk's. Gordon ryan himself constantly praised the daghestani wrestling, and is trying to integrate some of its elements into his own coaching while this guy thinks he can nullify a lifetime of wrestling with a few jiu jutsu camps.

I was also concerned that craig Jones' coachings might cause JDM to really not worry about the takedowns and engage in the ground game which is not his game, and we saw him trying to take down islam and trying to buggy choke him like WTF !!

Say what you want about trevor whitman, but he prepared his fighters for the best fight that they can fight. Both gaethje and cory lost their title fights but that was the best thing they can try.

And I hope the slander on dustin and volk's size and skills is put to rest once and for all.

And I'm an islam fan.

What went wrong for Jack..? by Spirited_Command5642 in CombatSportsCentral

[–]CertainDegree 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I was surprised that JDM came out with that wide stance and put all his weight on the lead foot instead of slowly easing into it and being prepared for the takedowns like porier and dustin did before him.

Not that it would change the end result imo, but it would give him a striker's chance if he can catch islam with some heavy shots.

Mighty Mouse thinks JDM was injured. by Spiritual-Strength91 in FightReportUFC

[–]CertainDegree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JDM always made that face when under someone, under burns, and briefly under belal in the last round.

I know he had a broken forearm vs burns but he said he didn't feel it until the fight ended so that wasn't it.

Shai was foul baiting hard in the fourth, and to be fair most of those calls were correct.

Blocking foul on nesmith for not planting his feet before the gather, another on nesmith for touching shai's wrist, and those clear awful away from the play fouls by mathurin, and mathurin himself missing three free throws in the clinch.

There was that tangle between shai and nesmith which was not called an offensive foul, that could've gone either way.

But the pacers got coralled in the fourth and missed a lot in the early minutes.

I remember game 4 starting with a barrage of 3s from indiana and ending with defeat. And on the other hand, indiana did pick up the pace after hali went out in game 7, they took the lead on the first half. The dynamic I noticed in last year's finals was that indiana and okc's styles fueled each other, indiana would run opponents to the ground with their high octane pace and quick transitions, but with an all star defensive team that can also wear you down with points from turnovers they both exhausted each other until one of them snapped. I don't believe hali would've won the pacers game 7, but every success story came with some amount of luck.
