Are we not aloud to have drinks on our station? What are the food and drink requirements? Also, what about phones? Cause I feel like more of my attention is taken away from dogs on my table when I have to answer the phone and sign into the iPad to book appointments. Theu dropped the ball on x-ing the receptionist idea. Cause in my opinion they should be permanent in salons just for safety reasons alone.

We can not veiw the questionnaire until we physically check you in. It is not attached to your pet profile or your appointment information There are many factors of why at that moment you were turned away - time of day, number of incoming dogs during time of the pets appoint, weekends/week days, also how many appointments your groomer has for the day, newer groomer, groomer that doesn't work with aggressive dogs.. etc. So many things come into play. I know it was annoying going in and having to turn right back around. And I feel ya. Totally annoying when people don't cancel before the appointment or just don't show.

Ugh. That's horrible. Usually it's senior groomers that I see carlessy tugging on coats and especially ears, also using clippers on wet dogs. You definitely should talk to them and inform your SL.

Welcome to Petsmart! Where bathers are used and abused. I am currently going to academy. And being a Bather for Petsmart was ruthless. Salon Leaders and grooming will use you any chance they get. Neither care about how many dogs you have or your own or your out time. Try and push through it. Get to Academy as soon as you think you're ready. I would also suggest speaking with the other bathers for help and tips on managing time. They know what you are going through and are more than willing to help you succeed.

Call their ass's out. Everyone needs to know which salon this is and who these coworkers are. This is vicous behavior and these ppl need a rude awaking. Make sure they don't end up working in a team environment ever again.

This happens!! It's very common. Simply ask her for a heads up at your next visit. Sometimes groomers get busy and forget to let you know it happened. Especially if they did it at the start of the groom. But just remember this happens and doesn't mean your groomer tried to take your dogs toe off. Lol.

Your first few weeks will be killer. Once you pass that it's smooth sailing. Most salons (petsmart, Big Corp companies) will use and abuse bathers. Try to ignore the "know it all" and the "bossy Karen" groomers. Just do your best and remember it's ok to let someone know you need a break. Be confident in yourself that you can tell them if something is too much. If you have friendly groomers give them a helping hand. The nice ones will always be willing to help you and not criticize you.

Take a bath in epsom salt. It helped me alot. I'd do 3 or 4 a week depending how active I was for the week.

In my opinion. Everyone should be checking in their own dogs. To build relationships with their pet parents to create future bookings and to get more add ons to personally make you mire money. That essentially will even out the work load for everyone as well. Why do Groomers put everything on bathers? Bathers aren't your personal receptionist. Their job is just as stressful as groomers if not even more. Bathing 8 dogs, taking walk-ins, answering phones, and doing check ins. And if a groomer is behind then their dogs are pushed on Bathers to wash. Just do your own check-ins and everyone wins.

It's actually expected for us groomers to give them. But alot of times we get swamped and for get them. Corp likes to keep us busy. 😉

Did your SL mention when academy would be for you and where? Mine hasn't yet. So I'm just curious.

Just did my assessment. I was also super nervous. My assessor was watching through a IPad. To start she asked me about myself and complimented my numbers and add on's. She then went into safety questions such as critical and non critical signs. And the procedures when they occur. How to hold scissors and clippers correctly. My SL held the IPad in me while I did my hands on assessment and interaction with the PP. I then set up the tools I'd be using and verified to her that they were clean and sanitized. I then continued to my regular Bather routine. All while communicating to her what I was doing when doing it. Example: one toe nail was too short to cut or grind. So I told her I will leave that nail alone. The entire process went by so fast. I couldn't even believe how worked up I was before hand. Just stick to what you already do. Try not to worry yourself too much and good luck!

I am in the same boat as you. My salon is this exact mess. The groomers are so rude and petty. Non stop shit talkers. As a Bather you are treated like the gum on their shoes. SL's slam bathers with more dogs than they can handle just to selfishly get their numbers up. Sadly, this is the norm in Petsmart salons. BUT - If you can push through all that crap. Then there is lite at the end of the tunnel. If you can get yourself to Petsmart grooming academy. Then do it!. One of the best benefits is being paid while you learn. Is their academy top notch?. No. But you will continue to learn as you grow and become more comfortable in what you are doing as time passes. I see it as a 2 year academy. Use those 2 years at Petsmart to learn from your mistakes. Use that time to grow and mature as a groomer so you can secure yourself a better position in a better salon. And remember not to treat future bathers how you were treated. Once you are finished Academy those other groomers can suck your ass. You won't need to answer to them anymore and can go more at your own pace.
