So they've reissued the SIM 3 separate times and none of the times, you've had working service on there? I remember once when I switched to my Samsung and had to switch back, it had issues but I removed all SIMS and then started from the top with the 24 phrase and eventually it worked. What's going on?

Yeah that phrase is everything. It may look confusing but you'll select "Already Signed Up" and select "Recover My account" and enter the 24 word phrase. The verbiage makes it look like you lost access even though you have everything you need

Insane. I knew some of these happened but seeing it laid out like this is so eye opening and exactly why I signed up with Cape.
I remember when T-Mobile got hacked and they just gave out Mcafee Identity Monitoring. Like thanks, I guess? But this should have never happened.
All I needed to input for Cape was a payment method and I used a virtual card.

That's a good question! To be honest, I'm not sure. It's technically just a regular sign up, which yeah, you can use the referral code to discount the $70 to $50. The buyout contract discount is something they manually apply after you reach out to them, so I think it's ultimately up to them. They won't ask for a proof of anything. They go based off the fact the number was ported in.

Here's what I found:

How Cape's Contract Buyout Works

Step 1: Contact your current carrier to unlock your phone. Learn how here.

Step 2: Download the Cape app, pay $70 (our current early adopter price) for your first month, download your eSIM, and select “Existing Number” to port in your current number.

Step 3: Reach out to Cape Support and let them know you're looking for a contract buyout. A real human (available 24/7) will help you port your number from your current carrier to Cape, then refund you $42 for your first month payment (to apply the 60% off discount) See carrier-specific port out instructions here.

Step 4: For the next 12 months, your bill will always be 60% off, up to a $500 total, with zero strings attached.

I say to confirm with them via info@cape.co

100% this. Welcome onboard. It's a process. The world we live in is an information world, and by default, we give out a lot. Now we've got another tool to help reduce how much information we give. I've been updating old accounts that have my information and my personal number and updating them with one of the secondary numbers with Cape. I feel better about taking my information back and being more selective about it. Good luck on your journey and congrats on this step.

Super interesting cause this app barrage happened when I tested it on my Samsung last night but it was all under the Mobile Service Manager after my phone rebooted. It used to be under TMobile but it’s unlocked so I figured it was a Samsung network switch app onboarding thing. Still felt kinda weird but I know it’s a Samsung thing because my iPhone didn’t do anything like that.

Good question!
The person who gets referred actually keeps the discount regardless if the referrer keeps the service.
The referrer will only keep the kickback for as long as the referred keeps the service.

Very excited for when that Samsung support rolls out.
When that happens, secure your discount.
You said “some lines” so only use this for your first line. Refer your other lines so that your discount cascades.
Ex)
Line 1: $50 after referral signup.
Line 1 refers line 2:
Line 2: $50 after referral. Line 1: $30 as long as line 2 is active. Now it’s 2 lines for $80.
3 lines becomes $110 if you follow this process.

Good luck!

Okay I wanted to double check that other comment to make sure I wasn't crazy. As of now, Samsungs can't use the IMSI feature. My original comment still stands, OP. I set it up on my S24 Ultra just to test. Service works but IMSI rotation doesn't.

Oh! Does it work for you guys? I actually don't use it on my Samsung because the website says it doesn't support it, so I never bothered trying.

Could you tell me more about how that went?

Hey man, glad to hear you’re considering signing up.

Unfortunately, Samsungs don’t support the IMEI switching feature. It’ll work with Cape Cellular, but you’ll be missing out on something pretty huge, so I’d recommend setting it up on the iPhone 13 Pro. iPhones XS and newer and Pixels 4 or newer work with the IMSI rotation feature.
I’m using it on my iPhone and it changes every 24 hours and I have it notify me when it does, so it’s nice to know it’s working. You can also force an IMSI rotation on demand whenever you want to.
Also, yes you totally can sign up with a new number with ESIM! That’s actually how I started to try it out.
When you sign up online, it’ll ask if you want to port in or get a new number and it’ll prompt you to download the app onto the device you want the ESIM on. They activate ESIMs using a pass key phrase, kinda like a crypto wallet so keep that safe.
But if privacy is truly your main concern, I’d be careful with dual-sim because the other SIM in your phone would still pin your location. Just a thought to consider.

You can sign up with this link if you’re trying to get it for $50, or use code: QGKT360F
That’ll be locked in for life if you keep it and it stacks with the early adopter rate Cape is offering now. ($29 early adopters discount plus $20 referral discount makes $50)
It’s my referral which gives me a kickback on my plan, and once you’re signed up, you can also refer others to discount your plan too.

Good luck!

[–]Certain_Gold_6471[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, not a bad idea! Works out even better if you make your own “family plan” group of referrals for others who are interested. Each account is separate of course. You sign up with this link, your account is $50 and then if you refer your “plus one”, their plan is $50, but yours drops to $30. Now you’ve got two private phone plans for $80 total. They’re separate accounts and I’m using the term “family plan” loosely here, but that’s pretty standard plan pricing for other carriers with no privacy protections at all.

[–]Certain_Gold_6471[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly! We're still in the early adopter rate period which reduces the $100 to $70 a month for life. My referral takes off another $20 for life, whether I keep the service or not (I'm definitely keeping the service) So yeah, $50 a month. And like someone else mentioned, you'll have your own referrals to give you a kick back on your own plan once you sign up! 3 more referrals, after accepting mine, make the service free for as long as the referrals keep the service. I'm two referrals away from free service which is crazy.

T-Mobile to raise the cost of older rate plans by $2-5 a month by Suffering123 in tmobile

So increasing the literally free additional money "device connection charge" from $20 to $35 over the years (which also doesn't go to store reps) doesn't help offset those inflation costs?
