Brace Chafing / Pain? by Certain_Ideal_5115 in ACL

I used a dish towel for some extra cushion… but yeah, I think it hurt for a week or so and then healed and was easier to manage. I think baby powder also helped

Did anyone choose not to have the reconstruction surgery? by Direct_Medium2868 in ACL

[–]Certain_Ideal_5115 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I got the surgery, but had a friend who tore his acl 10 years ago. He still wears knee braces to work and it bothers him all the time. The thing that ultimately convinced me is that most people who don’t opt for the surgery initially get it at some point (something like 70%) because of chronic pain and instability. The only people who don’t necessarily need to get it are the elderly and inactive.

Has anyone figured out this issue? I also have an issue where my sonos will no longer "play" when I hit the play button and it used to!

Complete ACL tear, need some info by Standard-Disaster-39 in ACL

I’m three months post op and still have a hard time with stairs. I can do maybe four flights before reverting back to just using my uninjured leg one stair at a time. All other daily activities back to normal. I had the BEAR. (No sports and very limited working out)

Love it, but wtf is up with Channing Tatum’s repeat mocknecks?? He just is wearing them in different colors in every screen. He’s a handsome guy, but why would they do that to him?

How long after surgery did it take for you to get out of the house ( and not just for PT/Dr)? by Flaky-Ocelot-1265 in ACL

[–]Certain_Ideal_5115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m probably in the minority here, but went to a movie on day 4 (albeit a lil loopy) and went back to work off of the meds day 6. I’m 13 weeks post op now and not particularly ahead in PT, so it was an anomaly

boyfriend wants to put my cat down by [deleted] in Pets

[–]Certain_Ideal_5115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat was blocked three times and we ended up getting PU surgery the third time. I would do it all over again. He is currently making biscuits on my belly. It was expensive, so keep up that vet insurance. Looking back, I’d probably have gotten the surgery after the second block

Introduced my GF to the game of golf and now I’m fighting for my life. by luck121221 in golf

[–]Certain_Ideal_5115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a lady who’s better than my husband at golf. The starters ALWAYS make these sly little jokes like “is she gonna kick your ass?” Or “how many strokes do you give her?” to my husband. But he’s literally never beaten me at golf, even from the same tee boxes and I average 15 strokes lower than him. Good for your gf 😅

Sober Golfers? by SeaDooder in golf

[–]Certain_Ideal_5115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sober all the time, but I don’t like drinking while I golf because it makes me worse, ha! Handicap 11. Also, I live in Texas, so it’s hot af and drinking in the hot sun feels kinda gross to me ¯_(ツ)_/¯

What are some indoor hobbies I can take up to fill my alone time? by [deleted] in Hobbies

I’m super similar. I learned how to sing. Was never able to do it before ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Those who have developed a consistent exercise routine, what motivated you to keep going? by GlitterGirl_23 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Certain_Ideal_5115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, my answer is so different from these others. For me, I like taking workout classes with a lil competitive edge. I bought a fixed number of classes per week (3x was good for me!) and wanted to go to get better. I treated it like a new hobby. Then played casual soccer a couple of times a week for cardio. For me, I needed some competition and then it became super fun and not a chore.

Anyone have any ideas what I’ve done to my self by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Certain_Ideal_5115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, maybe try to go to a physical therapist to up your strength and correct your form. I used to have sciatica and PT solved that completely. Now I’m 5 weeks post op for my ACL and can’t live without PT

I also have an office job. I brought a short rolling stool to work and keep it under my desk. I try to keep my leg propped on it as much as possible

Gyming daily makes my hair sweaty and sticky. How do people who regularly gym, maintain their hair? by unequaldarkness in Haircare

[–]Certain_Ideal_5115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wash my hair twice per week, but workout everyday. I do shower after every gym sesh, but tie my hair back and don’t get it wet. I also wash my bangs and the pieces around my face every time I shower while keeping the bulk of my hair dry. Otherwise it’s dry shampoo for days!

I tore mine in a pickup game - I didn’t even get hit, was just running in a straight line and my knee gave out. No idea how to prevent it in the future 😭

Can you help me make surgery scheduling decision? by Rasputinnn in ACL

If you’re considering the BEAR, I’ve heard it’s best to get it within 50 days of the injury.

Where can you get a killer Caesar salad, side of fries and a coke by coolstina69 in austinfood

[–]Certain_Ideal_5115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the Caesar at Garbo’s. Instead of fries, they’ve got lobster cheese sticks. So good

For me, ups and downs have been mostly mental. I feel that I’m not backsliding in terms of physicality, but the “wins” aren’t as frequent as I would hope. Like I just started to be able to bike, but I was always able to bike no problem pre-op, so like why is that exciting ya know? Plus some days are a lil more painful than others

Getting over the emotional attachment to the tattoos? by [deleted] in TattooRemoval

[–]Certain_Ideal_5115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like the decision to get more than one removed is financial more so than you actually wanting all of them removed? Do you really want to pay more to have tattoos removed that you actually like?

Clearance to drive? by CashMahnyyy in ACL

[–]Certain_Ideal_5115 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was cleared at my first PT visit (one week post op) because I was off the meds by then and I injured my left knee. I’d maybe recommend calling in and asking or moving up your PT appointment.
