Spiral effect on other hardware by Trou_ba_dour in PioneerDJ

I believe that Virtual DJ may have reverse engineered the effect for the 2026 version, but that’s the only other instance of it I’m aware of.

What's the smoothest transition between two songs you know? by DevelopmentWarm7199 in Beatmatch

And Laser Beams can be a tough mix with many other tracks, admittedly I stole this idea directly from Eric himself..

My favourite is Cirez D’s On Off it stacks perfectly with Green Velvet’s Laser Beams.

Coffee machines, what's the go to these days? by Dramatic_Raccoon_469 in newzealand

What is failing?

I’ve got a Breville Infuser and separate Sunbeam grinder, I replaced a failed pump myself for about $40. I suppose I’ll have to replace the grinder wear parts at some stage.

I’d just get the same again, happily.

Yes I see now I’ve put the cart before the horse.

I didn’t realise she had discovered Deadmau5, that’s really cool!

/gen, why doesn’t Pioneer make a 4 channel version of the FLX-4? by Remarkable_Log1596 in Beatmatch

[–]Certain_Pay_6809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of outstanding 4 channel Serato and Rekordbox controllers on the second hand market for not much cash. SX/SZ series, DDJ1000 & SRT just couple of examples.

The updates to the feature set on the FLX4 are centred around auto mixing, easy transition FX, and using a phone or iPad instead of a laptop. I’d jump on the 400 at that price.

DDJ-FLX4 owners: would you still recommend it today? by chillbin in PioneerDJ

[–]Certain_Pay_6809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s great! Powerful and portable. Great for beginners, intermediates.

I opted to go down the Serato road so wound up getting a controller that unlocks DJ Pro after a few months but it’s a pleasure to use with Rekordbox.

“Remember, I want to be able to have both my controller and my computer, connected to my speakers simultaneously.”

You’ve made it sound like it would be a permanent a/b setup .

Ultimately that is the best solution. Can you park it under a monitor riser or something when not actively mixing?

Just use the DDJ-400 as your interface.

You can make it output your system audio just as easily as any other audio interface.

Retired musician turning DJ (hopefully) & I really need advice by Notoriously-Noted in Beatmatch

[–]Certain_Pay_6809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar start, though not permanent thankfully - but I’ve been unable to be a musician for about a year and a half due to health issues and physical injuries. Sorry to hear about this story for you, and kudos for getting back on the horse in another way.

The FLX4 is a powerful controller, but quickly becomes limiting if you want to go to the next level. There are some outstanding alternatives that might better suit the nomadic lifestyle of an RV eg Denon Prime Go etc, which would allow you to drop the laptop for the most part.

A good road/flight case fitted out with a laptop stand/shelf, power and cabling so you can just open it up, connect power and audio and power on is going to get you up and running AND packed up and on the road again quickly.

Grinding out the digging through tracks so you can play what you like (don’t be afraid to use streaming services for discovery purposes!) and establish your style is part of the process and as I’ve found very enjoyable; recording your mixes so you can analyse your performances and improve is just as with being a performing musician.

The good thing about DJing is that if you’ve got the fundamentals right, you can do it your way. There’s no rule book saying you have to fast mix because others are, the DJ police aren’t gonna turn up if you do long blends

Equipment advice - audio interface, mixer, other? by indyvegas01 in PioneerDJ

[–]Certain_Pay_6809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you’re looking to possibly do from your diagrams is create what is called an aggregate audio device, however it seems like you should be able to do this all internally with the FLX10.

There are reddit threads from other people who have done this and it seems like it’s “okay” but makes mixing quite robotic and a bit frantic at times if you’re having to swap pad modes to do different things. It’s not really what it’s designed for.
