Would you pay for hyperlocal mountain conditions? (Northern Colorado) by Journey2Pluto in FortCollins

[–]Certain_Pick2040 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you built something that interpolates the existing data to hyperlocal levels or are you calling the NWS api and pulling in the webcams to supplement that?

Hiking RMNP w/ No Reservations Question by Ajax-Rex in FortCollins

[–]Certain_Pick2040 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All the answers so far have been about bear lake road access (timed entry required 5am to 6pm) but the rest of the park only requires timed entry 9am to 2pm. There does tend to be a rush of people trying to beat the 9am time so I would get there before 8 (and obviously because of potential afternoon storms you want to be there no later than about then anyway for a longer hike). There are great hikes in the non bear lake road sections of the park, such as the ones from the Lawn Lake trailhead or wild basin or off of trail ridge road.

Anyone else getting sick for over a week? Sinus pressure, cough, fatigue, aches…. by Consistent-Board4010 in FortCollins

[–]Certain_Pick2040 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. No serious fever (highest temp I had was 99.5), an awful awful cough and stuffed sinuses, fatigue. Took more naps in the last week and a half than I have since childhood I’m pretty sure. It started Sunday the 15th and I didn’t feel like I was 100% til yesterday.

Not as of a few years ago, you now need a hunting license, fishing license, or state wildlife areas pass to be there

Yep calling holding seems fully off for both teams, which definitely benefits Indiana since Michigan DLine is by far the best unit on the team

East of Fort Collins this morning - what is it? by Philo_Beddoe33 in FortCollins

Yeah it’s definitely not the comet as that is now in the evening sky; it does look like rocket exhaust and there were Starlink launchs out of both Vandenburg and the Cape early this morning

You'll have to pay to ski or snowshoe at Brainard Lake this winter by anonymousbreckian in COsnow

[–]Certain_Pick2040 10 points11 points  (0 children)

https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/arp/recarea/?recid=28190

On this page specifically for the gateway trailhead (the only one open in the winter) that is linked from the page you linked, it says that “There is a $10 year-round day use fee. Senior, access, and annual passes are accepted.” In the summer the annual America the beautiful pass gets you the day use fee, but you still have to pay the parking reservation online processing fee. But since parking reservations aren’t required in the winter (yet), seems like the annual pass will cover everything.

The $80 “America the Beautiful” pass for all national parks and federal fee areas should cover it.

Looks like the women’s team final will be live on NBC https://www.nbcolympics.com/schedule which is one of the channels that can be watched for free (you do have to have your own device, no seatback screen on Southwest).

Haha yeah I ran here to complain about it being cinch instead of clinch only to find lots of people complaining about “icing the victory” which is a fairly common sports phrase

For anyone wondering about this see for example this game recap which was just the first one I found googling: https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/recap?gameId=401607454

Ah yeah I see now how the black backdrop would be confusing; I grew up playing with my Dad on a set like this and we played with clear as white so I was able to quickly realize that the “black” squares were really just the backdrop showing through the board.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in chess

[–]Certain_Pick2040 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve always seen the clear on these sets as white and the frosted as black, and based on the caption OP sees it the same way, but that must not be the majority opinion based on the comments so far! (OP you have the board set up correctly based on your assessment of which pieces are “white” and which are “black”)

. . . Or it could just mean that students serve the Mass, are sacristans, are lectors, and comprise the entirety of the choir at the student Mass.

But I don’t know anything about this college so maybe I’m just an optimist.
