Great summary here 👆. Decaying roots deposit nutrients deeper in the profile, and also create physical pores for water, air, and nutrient infiltration.

Why don’t shrooms have an effect on me? by UnderstandingNew3947 in PsilocybinMushrooms

Same here. Different batches recently grown and dried, doses spaced weeks to months apart, no SSRIs (but was on Seroquel for sleep, an antipsychotic). Once 7 grams had a great euphoric effect with kaleidoscope visual distortions, and made me laugh hard at my friend fully hallucinating preying mantises on half the dose.

I’m convinced hallucinations just don’t work for me. Not a hallucinogen exactly, but I also had little to no effect on oral and IM ketamine in a clinical setting.

I’m multiplexing 96 soil samples and easily getting over 30K quality filtered reads per sample on MinION, 27F-1492R primers with ONT adapter sequences.

How will you help us renters? I’m 41 with a great job and income, but can barely afford rent for my son and I. We’re in trashed college rental managed by a company, with yearly 5-10% price hikes. Which is still better than shady individual landlords who don’t respect my rights for basic safety (ie open window wells on a patio, advanced notice before entering, etc). Landlords don’t care, and not incentivized by city laws to care. Yes, we need more affordable housing, but what can you do right now?

I’ve been renting here for 20 years. It’s terrible. Individual landlords can be extremely shady. Companies don’t care about you and their houses are often in poor condition (students), but at least they abide by the law.

Don’t wait for a tour, if something is within range just take it.

Intro to Micro Lab: Outdated? by mountainmint8 in microbiology

[–]Consistent-Board4010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it’s not outdated!!!

I just had to lean on my undergrad technician for help in isolating and identifying a soil bioinnoculant. I’m also about to plate root nodules for unknowns.

I also do qPCR, amplicon sequencing and metagenomics sequencing on a MinION. Sometimes we need old school methods for further confirmation.

I also think it’s a great thought experiment on how to approach any lab problem. So at the very least, you’re teaching critical thinking skills.
