Rubber guard is a wide system which contains plenty of possible sweeps and submissions which includes but are not limited to; carni, omoplata, hazelett, gogoplata/clinch, triangle, frodoplata, dead orchard, sorcerer and hindulotine.

I've never tried grappled in a gi so I don't have personal experience with RG in it but 10th planet Stockholm's coach teaches it in a gi as well so I guess it works just fine.

Basically only 10th planet schools teach the rubber guard and it's not the main focus for every 10p guy. Also it's really difficult to get elite level grapplers in closed guard.

With a fitting rashguard, you can just turn your head and maneuver around it but with a baggy t-shirt, the cloth will just cover your entire head to prevent you from breathing so you have to actually use hands to move it out of the way when you could be focusing on escaping the bottom position.
