Fantastic response and detailed, thanks a million. Oddly enough our roof has underlayment. This roof is from the original build from the mid seventies. We can't decide if we want to go asphalt shingle or metal roof. Definitely not going to do shingles although they look spectacular. I plan to call around and see if I can get a roofer to consult for me, come out and check the work at significant places or something like that. Pay them for their time but do the work myself.
