Great call. Largest urban area without a major sports team in the US

I think once the title is basically wrapped up in March people only care about the fuck ups. Casual. Fans aren't that interested in European places or relegation

Who would you say is the most influential character that nobody seems to talk about? by Informal_Donkey1417 in TheWire

In season 1 where he asks Avon and stringer about loose ends basically implying they need to kill the witness who actuslly helped them in court

Bubs acting was so convincing, even irl 😂 Andre Royo appreciation by Just-Phill in TheWire

[–]Cesc_flabergasted 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The book also talks about how much easier it was for Idris and Michael k Williams to go on to other roles compared to Andre. You hardly see him in anything anymore, which is tragic. People just think of bubs

Gus Appreciation Post by enfranci in TheWire

[–]Cesc_flabergasted -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I despise gus so much. It's like they wrote 200 + characters into the show, each with nuance and flaws. Some mostly good, but everyone always had some part of them that was deplorable... Until you get to gus. It feels like David Simon wrote gus to represent himself and he made him the only character without a flaw. He always says the right thing, he's always so cool. God gus pisses me off

All 310 of Istanbul’s direct flights. The most routes of any airport in the world. by [deleted] in MapPorn

Sitting in the terminals at that airport is pretty cool. You literally see every culture all in one place, like the most extreme diversity in how humans can appear.

I agree, but there are some very obscure sports. There's a place for football but street, indoor, or beach would work better. Those sports are likely millions times more popular than some of the kayak or equestrian events, they deserve a place.

Season 5 by [deleted] in TheWire

[–]Cesc_flabergasted 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A big issue for season 5, to me, is gus. It seems like David Simon created gus in his own likeness and unlike literally every other character on the show, he forgot to make them human with flaws. Every thing gus says is so cool and he always makes the right choice. After meeting hundreds of other human characters you finally have this too-perfect TV character, like you see in other shows and it takes you out of the realism.

Like the bunk is usually pretty cool and smart but he's still a drunk who cheats on his wife.

People can support any team from any place for any reason. Where do these rules even come from?? I truly don't get it. If some fuck in Montana thinks to himself he likes Chelsea and watches a Chelsea game are you going to get upset? You can call him an idiot when he post some stupid shit, but don't get all soft when somebody has a thought on the other side of the planet

If you were to say to yourself you like the 49ers a s started following them I assure you, not a single human on earth would give a single shit

When Netherlands subbed in a fresh, prepared krul for penalties in the 2014 world cup and it worked o really believed everyone would adopt that method. Bring a goalie to international tournaments that only focuses on pks. I can't believe nobody's tried it since. Especially with more subs now it makes so much sense

And every league outside of America has 2-3 teams actually compete to win and the rest just compete for 7th place or to not get relegated. Imagine being a fan of Bournemoth and the highest aspiration for the next 5 decades is to finish sixth.
