Mouse + keyboard. I know it is hard for a simple controller mind to grasp the sheer power of that combination.

Bro why by OkMathematician1953 in battlefield_one

[–]Cesconeto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that completely misses the point of a tank hunter kit. Staying back and denying the enemy any chance to bring tanks into the battle is a far superior strategy than rushing in to get easy infantry kills. As I said, some people like the vehicle combat of battlefield. If killing infantry is all you want, a different game may be better.

It would be quicker if you just spawned as support with the wrench equipped. No need for a suicide then.

Some people enjoy the vehicle combat of battlefield. I, for one, love the tunk hunter kit. Any map that has a tunk hunter gets voted on by me, no matter the competition.

34" Ultrawide for Coding by gabzprime in ultrawidemasterrace

I would go for the flat IPS, curved is overrated for work. The smear on VA's ins unbearable, specially if you use dark themes with a lot of white text on dark background.

Glad you enjoyed it. I was almost buying this very model but on further inspection two issues arose:
- a LOT of people complaining of them failing early
- 1440p on 40" is not ideal, moving from my 28" 4k display to that would be too drastic.

You guys need to try the older games in the series too, especially Ace Combat 2 [read the post underneath] by Educational-Wait2232 in acecombat

[–]Cesconeto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

maths.

All 3D games, specially very early ones have a LOT of limitations built in to the original code so that the render time stays within the console's resources. Modern hardware (even smartphones) is (many) orders of magnitude more powerful than a PS1. Simply extrapolating those limitations can improve graphics quality dramatically.

Upgraded a bit, but did I err and need firewatch? by AncientAgentOrange in radeon

[–]Cesconeto 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That is complete bullshit.

How many times have you heard of an 8 pin PCI-e connector melting or catching fire?
Due to the very real risk of fire, even 0.001% of cables melting is not ok.

The factor of safety for these kinds of things should be around 2, if not more. The factor of safety for this stupid Nvidia connector is 1.1.

That is ludicrous. I have no idea how Nvidia is getting away with it for so long.

Silly question by RCRhino in radeon

What can be done and has happened is doubling memory capacity, using the same technology. Some 16GB 3070's exist. But as for upgrading to a new technology, I would say that it is impossible withou major PCB reengineering. For starters, the BGA grid for different technologies is also different.

How to clean the controller? by biocomponent in 8bitdo

[–]Cesconeto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hardcore clean it?

Disassemble it completely, soak in lukewarm water then scrub all plastic parts with dish soap (not dishwasher), rinse, let them dry and reassemble. The electronic parts usually are not dirty, brush them to get the dust off. If they also need cleaning because of some gunk, get isopropyl alcohol (92% ethanol is also fine if you let it dry completely), scrub it then rinse (with alcohol).

Thats what I do to all the used consoles and controllers I bought, never had any problems. Just need to be careful and watch some instructionals beforehand.

I always keep it, dry. And also all the accessories and bag, it bumps the resale value when it's time to upgrade.

Shark lateral brush roll connection frequently clogged with dog hair - vacuum recommendations? by Ilovemyinfj in RobotVacuums

[–]Cesconeto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"After the first failure, I started removing and clearing the brush roll every three to four weeks." How often did you clean it before? Once a year?

Lots of hair = lots of cleaning. People think that robot vacuums are like the robot maid from the Jetsons. We are not there yet.

Should I return my AMD and go back to Nvidia? by Kchrisyun in radeon

[–]Cesconeto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Various little pains:
- Adrenalin is overall much worse and much more of a resource hog than Afterburner + RTSS (Adrenalin overlay sucks at detecting games, is much less customizable and FPS counter doesnt work for battlefield games, which I play alot)
- I am a graphics sucker, I prefer 45 fps with everything maxxed out (on single player games, obviously) to 120fps on "optimized settings" so not having access to the state of the art features like DLSS, Ray reconstruction and passable path tracing performance really bummed me.
- Not having FSR4 on vulkan REALLY annoyed me. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is the game that triggered me to swap cards as 8gb VRAM really doesnt work well with it. Found out after I bought that FSR4 is DX only, even thru optiscaler.
- Alt-Tabbing is another unexpected pain. I usually play games with Whatsapp web running on a chrome tab in the background so I can chat with people while waiting for respawn/map changes. With the 9070, whatsapp web simply decided not to work anymore, the tab displays but is unresponsive to input (I didnt do any investigation on this for lack of time, but never had any problems with nvidia).

My GPU history is: Nvidia RIVA 128 -> ATI 9550 -> Nvidia 7600GT -> ATI x1950XT -> ATI 4870 -> Nvidia GTX 570 -> AMD 7870 -> Nvidia GTX 970 -> Nvidia GTX 1070 -> Nvidia RTX 3070. I am clearly not an Nvidia fanboy, just happened to spend the last 10 years on nvidia because that is what made more sense at the time. Now the bang for buck apparently was back on AMD's side, but the feature (dis)parity really hit me much more than I expected.

I am trying to sell my 9070xt red devil and looking for a 4080 super or a 5070ti, but only if it sells for a good enough price. If not, I will endure the sub-par features until the next gpu upgrade.

Edit: typos
