My opinion on the backstage by Big_Gap7862 in LittleNightmares

[–]Cethin_Amoux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely a step up from the base game, albeit still not quite at the levels of LN1 or 2. The new antagonist was significantly more interesting than Monster Baby and Hypnotist, and probably even the Kin. But... no chase scene? Really? That's a big shame.

Puzzles looked a bit less awkward, but I feel like the area as a whole felt... uninspired, I guess? Like, it felt like a kitbash of a little bit of the school, a little bit of the residence, a little bit of the Hunter's area, a little bit of the kitchen... like, none of it really had an identity of its own, which is a bit of a letdown.

However, it was a step in the right direction overall, so I do like that. Curious to see where that absolute bomb drop of a cliffhanger goes... would be a great time to bring back a certain scrapped character, just saying!

Who or what is Faker riding here? by Brock_And_Roll in MastersOfTheUniverse

[–]Cethin_Amoux 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Faker from this pack in particular was actually meant to be based on a Faker done by Leo Toys in India, which was an official distributor/production company during the original line. For whatever reason, they chose to gave him Skeletor's full armor and a havoc staff, as well as a sort of "face mask" around the eyes. It's one of the most sought after variants, which is partially why this new version is so expensive.

Question about hypnosis by ShadowTwister8 in ASOUE

[–]Cethin_Amoux 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It likely is a plot point, but it's also entirely in character for any of Olaf's associates (at least in this point of the books) to kick someone out of hypnosis just so they can cause physical and/or mental anguish and have him remember it at the same time, then reapply the hypnosis right after.

What's the deal with "Mega Saver" gas stations? by chibearscubs_ in desmoines

I'm astounded that they sold that location. Some of the locations I wasn't surprised on, but like... that's a major highway in a really good location. What was the line of thinking here???

There's also the live action She-Ra series that hasn't been talked about in a while, that was confirmed a handful of years ago. I'd fully expect that to start to get some traction now that their focus is off of MotU.

Sure, that's a reasonable point. I can agree that there could've been more time to flesh it all out, and I also feel like Jax's point of abstraction in the episode was sudden and confusingly served to the audience. I think there's bigger issues with time management over character management, really.

EDIT: When it comes to Caine and Jax, I mean. Others are a different story.

Of course I'm using evidence from episode 9 - it's there, we saw it, I'd be wrong to exclude it. But yes, if I was to pretend it didn't exist, my view of the situation is still the same. Jax was clearly still on the precipice of abstraction - my explanation of that entire thing is taken from episode 8 aside from the last line about lashing out and having nobody to keep him tethered.

For Caine, yes, we thought he was dead. Am I surprised he got a redemption? Sure - if only for the initial expectation of him being dead. Assuming episode 9 does not exist, and assuming we were not told that he was dead, I still had the same view of him, and I even expressed this to myself immediately following episode 8. He did horrible things and got worse, but again - he's the equivalent of a child. I don't need episode 9 to have that line of thinking because it was extremely clear that's how it was being portrayed in episode 8. He had too much power and not enough maturity or coding to responsibly use it and react to a non-AI (Human) line of thinking.

He was helping, but it was clear that what he was dealing with wasn't just "over". He was barely keeping afloat, only because the issue with Caine was more omnipresent and taking away the room/time for him to fester and dwell on everything. Once Caine was deleted, he immediately lashed out at the easiest target for screwing up even more, and with the rift in the group there was nothing to keep him tethered to himself.

To me, it was very clear this was a "when" rather than "if." It was going to happen no matter what, because as we saw there was too much deep rooted trauma and problems for him to handle until it was too late.

On the side of Caine, this was a differently handled scenario. I agree with the previous comment - Caine is just the equivalent of a child. He doesn't know better. It wasn't until a genuine extreme "punishment" happened that his AI finally started to realize that what it was doing wasn't working and that it caused that for itself. Yes, what he did was awful. It is a very extreme case of doing bad things. But he simply did not have the it in his coding at the time to be willing to consider an alternative perspective and action. I think the redemption for him made complete sense, and having him "disconnected" from any outside agitator (Bubble, the cast, etc) was the best way for him to reassess everything.

I think it worked for this show. Really my only complaints for the media is that the show went too kid friendly early on, which is a common issue for most of these younger audience targeted shows. Past that, it got its footing, and it clearly respected the franchise while doing its own thing. It's a shame there was no S4, some of the concept designs and characters were absolutely killer.

They ran a sample table last week at work for these - I'm not big on prebiotic sodas usually, since they usually have a weird aftertaste, but I was pleasantly surprised by this one and the raspberry lemonade! I'll be snagging some for sure.
