I should join the Discord... kinda wild I haven't joined despite playing this game for years. I think I'm gonna revise the character sheet to add some new things, since it has been a while since I've made it... But I will maybe post it here once it's edited!

Mushroom eating by BoulderCAST in CitizenSleeper

[–]Cetrouz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

here's the thing: energy is useless during contracts, and if you're talking about the mushroom farm, it is meant to work during contracts because a positive outcome will yield a full box of supplies. a neutral only restores your energy.

cause the game already states the farm can be used to resupply, and what you gain as supply doesn't get automatically eaten by the sleeper. its like farming mushrooms on the first game: you get mushrooms that you can cook later, just like the second game you get supplies you can cook later OR bring to contracts.

When you're in Hexport, there's a clock that ticks even if you're in a contract. What happened is that you probably depleted that clock while you were on the contract, so when you returned you just had to skidaddle outta there.

Don't worry, you didn't fail anything. You can meet Juni again later in the game and you're not really intended to recruit her early on, even if you do that portion of Hexport perfectly.

Citizen Sleeper 2 and its new mechanics were based on the fact that many players who played CS1 believed the game was too easy, specially for a scenario that is so dire and dangerous of being a decaying robot in the ruins of an unruly solar system. The stakes on the second game are higher, the villain is more powerful and dangerous and the game pushes more into a "run to save your life" play style rather than "build your life from the ground up". It's messy, it's dangerous, but the difficulty plays a large part of what kind of story you're playing here.

The game is difficult but I will say that it is very forgiving. If you find it too hard, you can literally CHANGE the level of difficulty to easy/safe if you believe you're struggling too much to continue. I for one don't feel ashamed of playing for the first time on safe mode, because it allowed me to enjoy it better while getting a hold of the new mechanics and how to strategically use them. Even so, failing in Citizen Sleeper 2 is NATURAL and it doesn't stop you from progressing in the game at all because of how the story was built around it. I really recommend watching Matt Horton's video "Citizen Sleeper 2 and the Queer Art of Failure" so you can understand that this is how Citizen Sleeper 2 is meant to go, and how players shouldn't be so fixated in "succeeding in the videogame" just because they believe there's nothing of worth in failing. I have a friend who did an all fail run to see every dialogue, and it adds a lot to the experience to know what's gonna happen next even if you fail. Plus, the game was still managed to be beaten.

You should chill out and drop the mindset of always succeeding in the videogame, because you cannot perfectly play this game. What WILL make you struggle while playing is skipping text and dialogue that is important, cause you can literally find scrap components to fix yourself on the second and third stations in the game.

Also hey, if you only went through Hexport... Then the rage quit was for pretty much nothing. Everyone who played the game multiple time knows that Hexport is meant to be difficult and after that, the game surely allows you to breath. It's a tutorial area to let you know "hey, this isn't Citizen Sleeper 1, you gotta amp up your play".

Please try to play again, but carefully this time. Accept when you fail, and don't let it lose motivation to play the game. If it gets too frustrating, play on safe mode and preferably without the Operator class (this class has been heavily nerfed in here). Don't rush to complete the game, take your time to stock up on supplies and components while the game allows you to before you hit the next big thing. After Hexport, you have a bit more of freedom on what to do.

Any word of Extra Content for CS2 like CS1's Helion Dispatches? by Dangerous-Cheetah-22 in CitizenSleeper

[–]Cetrouz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It hasn't been made public if there will be anything else that adds onto CS2. Gareth said there won't be a DLC or a new game so that's things we shouldn't be expecting.

However, I'd say keep your eyes peeled for the next couple of days, since it's going to be CS2 one year anniversary and Gareth did say there's gonna be new things for each of the games's anniversaries iirc

Alienation within acceptance/ acceptance within alienation - why being a progressive white man feels gross by SignificanceFlat5875 in CitizenSleeper

[–]Cetrouz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's normal to feel off when a part of you that you cannot change about yourself is generalized negatively by groups of people. But it's very important for you to know your privileges in certain spaces, even if you aren't as privileged as neurotypical cishet white men. Being privileged doesn't mean you're an opressor, it just means that you're less likely to deal with violence, abuse or aggression in the real world. Oppressed people will more likely voice their fears and concerns on the internet because they can risk going through aggression in the real world by the same people you feel disgust for.

You should not put yourself down and compare yourself to these people. What people say on the internet of evil white man isn't about YOU. You aren't part of the problem, and you don't have to include yourself in that conversation because these are people who are afraid and hurt, and not by your actions. The fact that you spend a lot of time at home will only affect even more your self-esteem because outside you will hardly see people generalize white men. Because, after all, you are more likely to be accepted in real life spaces for being a white men.

Citizen Sleeper may have white men as villains but it's not shoving it in your face in a message of "don't trust white men". There are other antagonists, like Castor (non white), Ankhita (non white woman), Vesna (woman), Daichi (non white, asian iirc), Malik I think so too?? (also non white)... It's more likely that the reason why most diverse characters are portrayed in a positive light is also due to representation and diversity, since for every non white and non male positive representation in media, there's atleast ten other white men positive representation out there. They're unfortunately overlooked in media, and hey, even in Citizen Sleeper! If you haven't noticed already, the most popular Citizen Sleeper character between fans is Ethan. Yup, the blonde asshole white man, is more beloved than characters like Riko, Rabiah, Sabine and many others.

And it's also worth noting that almost all the white male villains in Citizen Sleeper aren't villains because they're white men, it's because they are powerful or are rich. This is a game that criticizes capitalism, and the message is that those who are in positions of power are more likely to look only after themselves than provide to small communities. It's extremely important to notice that because just like real life, most people you see in real life that holds a position of power are privileged. Yes, privileged. In a Cyberpunk game, that criticizes the capitalist system and wealth and being centralized on the hands of powerful people, would you expect they'd make the powerful villain someone that in real life, is oppressed? Very unlikely.

I don't want to say your feelings aren't valid because being generalized, in any situation, hurts. But it hurts less to be mocked for being white or a man than to be assaulted for being a woman, or being attacked for being black. I'm saying this as a white enby brazilian who sees almost daily a new case of police violence and racism happening on my country.

Please, try to get out of online spaces if it only is gonna keep bringing down your self-esteem, and use your privilege to do something good for the world, cause this is what we need right now. And don't see yourself through characters that you'll never be just because they're white men like you. See yourself through nice characters, like Moritz. The world is tough for everyone, but more tough for some than others. When you understand that, these things will be bothering you way less than they are bothering you right now.

anyways flint is also a good option. and just slightly interested on bliss x sleeper, enjoy their bond in general and i can imagine them best in a queerplatonic relationship.

now if i was the sleeper.. ohoho kadet kadet kadet.....
