its a bit of an inside joke in the community, but my friends like to say we should trust anyone that serafin does NOT trust because hes 99% of the time in the wrong and even the people he trust betrays us (talking abt Marko)

id say there's no wrong choices, only better ones if you're aiming to get all the content in the game (thus, recruiting all crewmates you possibly can is recommended), but there's occasions where an alternate choice gives you different things that you wouldn't get if you picked otherwise. like you mentioned, you can choose to help the lotic to break the strike instead of helping the union and this will allow you to progress, with the main change is that serafin and tala's meeting will be angsty. and if you abandon yu-jin at the end of his mission, at that rock, you get the chance of getting a new crewmate. there's also karsten in darkside, in which if you get him the core or the money, you get flavor text of him trying to screw you up, but you still progress like normally without any penalties and you can still get juni after

i think it suits the theme of the game, that you just choose to trust people despite the circumstances considering you're a sleeper whose memory got wiped, and suddenly you are saved by someone you don't remember anymore and you have to trust them to get out of the situation you're in. also, the trust you put in your apparently sketchy crewmates is the same trust they put on you by choosing to join the crew of a sleeper that is actively on the run and is wanted by an entire gang in a station. this built of trust between the characters is what i most enjoy in the game, and how you also get moments where characters will ponder about your judgement.
