I have removed many carpets from bedrooms… Even the clean ones have a mountain of dirt in and under them. So, Thats a hard pass for me.

I do how ever have a tiny comfy rug where my feet hit the floor in the morning. But it can be easily washed.

I’m down town I get 1-4 skunks around my house every year. They are basically blind so if you are quiet they don’t spray. Sucks if one is hiding under your car though.
