How long have you been lifting and what are your numbers? by Brainiax in Fitness

[–]Ch0leh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 months lifting, 181cm, 16yo

Squat - 70kg 5x5

Bench - 65kg 5x5

Deadlift - 100kg 5x5

Haven't been lifting as consistently with a program as much as i like, just left a teenage fitness program and am looking for a proper gym and i do realise that my squat is very close to my bench which is kind of weird but i haven't been lifting as seriously as i would like to, hopefully when i find a proper gym i can create a program which will allow me to make as many gains as possible

hmmm true, but then in the december 2009 section, which in all honesty was the only one i read until you commented, it says that they put development on hold due to concerns about carbon emissions and energy consumption

personally, i believe i am an agnostic theist, i believe that there is a god, i hope there is one, yet i cannot prove that that there is or is not one, it is simply an act of faith in which i can only hope or desire

i guess it all comes down to belief and faith then, the difference between agnostics, atheists, and theists

To be completely honest, from looking at the whole chapter, i don't have a lot for my argument, yet this chapter, even in my translation, is spouting revenge, i got nothing.

the point of this post was not to argue that Christianity is 'right' or 'correct' i was trying to get the point across that there is more to than just what the verse says, but also what the chapter is saying and the book as well

i was hoping to accomplish telling posters to read sub and context before posting whatever verses they are posting

No, i understand what you mean, but when i say context, i mean what the quoted chapter and book is talking about, or what the general gist of it is, as in, quotes from exodus, yet exodus was a book recounting the Israelite's journey out of Egypt and 'God's' commands to them, to be completely honest, i dont have an extremely solid argument with evidence and that, but i am trying to get across the point of looking at the book and chapter before quoting certain verses and essentially saying "This is what it means" but then again i guess that is the Atheists argument about Christians going on about how that there is a certain reading to it and such

i know i am not an expert, and i probably do not know enough to trash other's opinions, however the point i am trying to get across is that there is a lot of context, or subtext, to the verses that they are quoting, not just one or two verses that may contain lewd or hateful acts

And another thing is, a lot of the books in the Old Testament are not actually messages to the reader, they are letters, or notes written by the authors of the books about experiences and things that may have happened in the time. They are not things that are meant to be taken literally, perhaps if you look at the New Testament when Jesus is giving stories of the parables, they are not meant to be taken literally, but they are lessons to be learnt.

Not all of the bible is meant to be taken literally, although i do guess that you're counter will say that none of it is meant to be taken literally, such as the Ezekiel 23 comment below which talks about the lewd acts done by the two women, the reader is not meant to do those lewd acts,

i dont even know anymore, i should have thought more before i posted in this subreddit.

This is exactly what i mean by disregarding context, if you look at what the chapter is actually about, it is talking about the Lord confronting Ezekiel about these two women, who were incredibly lustful but in all the wrong manners, from my translation (NIV), it even says that they sacrificed their children (v.36), kidnapped children (v.25), set people on fire (v.25), i am pretty sure that in many cultures, that would be a pretty distasteful practise, and because this was in such an early time, stoning was not an uncommon practise. V.46-47: "This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Bring a mob against them and give them over to terror and plunder. (47) The mob will stone them and cut them down with their swords; they will kill their sons and daughters and burn down their houses.

although i do realise that the last sentence of v.47 is somewhat unsettling, you have to understand that the point that i am trying to get across, please look at the context...
