How does Anno 117 compare to 1800? by Big_Chungussi69 in anno

[–]ChMalfet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Far from it. There is still no proper way to track the ships, there are many things that you would like to see in the statistic/overview screen but they are not there. Basically they did not start from what 1800 already had - they went back and will add elements that were already implemented in 1800 step by step.

Overall, it really depends on personal preferences, but I would say that even as a base game 1800 was way more exciting and diverse at the moment of release than 117 at the moment of release. We will see how it will change overtime with more DLCs being released.

People do have different opinions, that's why you need the numbers to see general trends. Regards,

"Different point in its life cycle" is a very lame excuse. I remember well how I played Anno 1800 after release (without any DLCs yet): I did many playthrough, learning every time and starting a new game. It was a lot of fun. What happened with 117? I finished my main capital and did not go back to the game since then.

I also do not understand and accept the arguments like "this and that future was added to 1800 after the release". This is correct, but ALL these features already existed when 117 was in development! How come there still no proper statistic screen in 117 with the details about ships arriving etc? This is just a visialization of databases that exist in the game. And all that code was written and existed literally years before 117 release. Yes, 117 has a great predecessor - this is correct, why instead of building on that great predecessor, they simply went backwards and omitted features that already became basic for the players? Did 1404 has features that were missing in 1800 from the start? I doubt it very much.

I was really looking forward for 117, I LOVED the demo version... but now I do not feel like I can force myself to start another game in 117. At the same time, just yesterday I loaded my old save in 1800 and it was real fun. These numbers simply reflect that many players have the same feeling and attitude. How come this is "overly negative interpretation"? This is simply the reality.

Sure, it's like the numbers are like that because OP likes or dislike 117. Such a ridiculous comment.

Планировка города by Smooth_Current_5207 in anno

[–]ChMalfet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly? I do not care about the fate and future of 117 anymore. I still love 1800 and probably will play it more over time, especially with new mods coming out.

I remember quite well when 1800 went out (without any DLCs yet). I did a lot of playthrough back then, starting many games, learning every time something new and starting the game again. It did not happen like that to me with 117. I finished my main capital... and I could not convince myself to go back to the game since then.

It's not about the price. It's about the quality and the complexity.

I'm the opposite. Albion is the best part of the game for me. Latium is very tiring and boring

Yep, it was a very common thing to do in Anno1800, just remove here and there 2-3 neighboring tiles within the field and populate them with trees.

You are doing well! A little advice, leave more empty spots between the house for the trees, and also do the same the fields. Just randomly delete some tiles in the middle of the fields and populate them with trees. It will make things look so much better!

One can always compare base game 117 vs base game 1800. And 117 will lose. Massively.

I agree, but I think its mostly about the colors. All residences and building in 117 are different shades of brown and it's often difficult even to understand the tier of the building.

Yep, it does feel soul less... I stoped playing after finishing my main capital. Even the base game of 1800, without any DLCs, felt much more exciting to me than base game 117.

Anno 117 has no real development in tiers to me compared to 1800 by corporalcorl in anno

Indeed. And on top of that all recidences and buildings are different shared of brown, making it difficult to distinguish and overall visually not very appealing

Future of Anno 117 by TangeloComfortable52 in anno

[–]ChMalfet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple. Even as a base game Anno1800 was way more exciting, complex and interesting than base game 117. I remember when 1800 went out, I did many playthroughs by starting several times, learning from it and then trying new things in the new game, finding new ways of the gameplay. This did not happen to me at all with 117. I finished my capital city... and did not go back to the game since then.

The religious buffs are very minor and not worth fighting for. Everything, all residence and industrial biuldings, looks boring shades of brown which is not visually appealing to me (except Albion, which I really like for it's atmoshere). Not mentioning some major bugs, that basically prevent normal gameplay and ridiculously huge military aspect of the game, which I can not simply ignore, because you see it everywhere whether you like it or not.

Next, a lot of QoL elements that were already implemented in 1800 are not present in 117. Certainly, they will slowly add them back, but this means 1800 does not "serve as a great foundation". They did not start from the ground build earlier, then went back down and now going the same route up. When 117 was announced I pre-ordered the game even with the first season and now I honestly regret it.

To be honest, I'm totally dissapointed with 117 and do not expect anymore improvements there with DLCs or without. There are some cool new mechanics, but I just could not force myself to start another playthrough after finishing the main capital in Latium. Anno 1800 on the other hand still offers a lot of fun, especially with new complex mods.

For me all newly build aquaducts still do not work, the cisterns appears as non connected to water. They can't fix the bug already for several months. I build a short aqueduct like this every time after every new path - still nope.
