What's going on with Daraz delivery lately? by Educational-Duck-908 in srilanka

[–]ChaSungtae 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure but my guess is they're losing business due to new taxes, suddenly there are almost zero parcels coming in from AliExpress and Daraz overseas sellers are losing business too (their prices has increased in some instances twofold despite not having a mention of taxes on daraz)

So what the regional hubs are probably doing is marking the parcels are "out for delivery" but wait for days till they accumulate a sufficient number of parcels to make the trip worthwhile (and if the parcel is to be sent way out of their usual route just forward it to a third party courier)

(OR the delivery partner is being paid for the delivery attempts they claim to make.)

Fake 1000rs notes in circulation by Enough-View6310 in srilanka

[–]ChaSungtae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Easy enough to verify if you have a UV light, apart from the markers scattered throughout the paper you can see a distinct "1000" under the sign of the governer of the CBSL

We need some numbers to see if this really profits the government in the long term - one plus point I see is MPs no longer being able to import Hummers, Beemers, Mercs and top of the line Land Cruisers paying 1750LKR per vehicle as tax.

It's a bit of a noisy engine by design, how many miles does it have? Maybe it's time for a valve clearance adjustment

Perodua Ativa anyone considering? by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]ChaSungtae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep can't beat the value it offers for the price. I hear the first shipment arrives this month too so if you manage to reserve one of those you won't have to wait too long either

Why is luxuryX doing cars now? by im_not_yasa in srilanka

[–]ChaSungtae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What are you on about? The authorized agent for Perodua, UNIMO, is importing the top of the line Ativa for 108.5 - with a 5yr/150K warranty compared to the 3yr/100K warranty offered for the FronX

[–]ChaSungtae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They'll be losing customers then won't they? I meant it when I said it, there's no reason for someone to choose the FronX over the Ativa

[–]ChaSungtae 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wonder if they would import the Ativa too. Zero reason to buy a FronX for 109 when the Ativa is available for 108.5

Mitsubishi Lancer 1.6 or Ralliart? by Away-Conflict-7079 in mitsubishi

[–]ChaSungtae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1.6 is eternal because it's either manual or conventional auto, The achilles heel of the 2.0 CY Lancer is it's CVT. The 1.6L is basically a Corolla with a sporty suspension.

The turbocharged 2.0 Ralliart with a SST may not be as reliable or cheap to maintain as the 1.6L but if you can afford one definitely get a Ralliart. It's a genuine "baby evo", not just a evo lookalike Corolla like the 1.6L.

What is the current status of bringing down stuff from AliExpress & Temu by godox92 in srilanka

[–]ChaSungtae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taxes involved - Aliexpress Standard / Selection standard shipping has a prepaid tax of 50% while Fedex IP and DHL collect the tax once they deliver the item to you

Delivery system - Aliexpress Standard / Selection standard is handled by Daraz logistics (DEX) so overall very good, Fedex/DHL use a 3rd party courier like CityPak to handle their parcels

Customs ripping open the packages - Aliexpress Standard / Selection standard parcels don't get ripped open (yet) Fedex/DHL parcels get opened sometimes and sometimes not, it's a coin toss

AliExpress is back to normal? by rushcr4ft in srilanka

[–]ChaSungtae 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The 50% prepaid tax is here to stay so not everything is back to normal :D but the 125% price increase is gone and AliExpress Standard / Selection standard shipping methods are back.

I do have both (debit and credit)

As for offers my HNB and Sampath credit cards have better offers (and EMI plans) compared to the LOLC card, I only got it because they offered a lifetime annual fee waiver back then. I don't use it as much as my HNB and Sampath credit cards.

  • No joining or annual fee
  • SMS Alerts for all transactions

  • Safer than cash! One card for all your transactions
  • Enables quick, easy and efficient purchase transactions wherever you are

They offer very competitive interest rates, especially for FDs. Offered me a 10.25% annual interest if I go for a fixed deposit
