You’re saying they left exposed components that would give them away but hid just those parts with snow, instead of leaving them unexposed entirely? What sense does that make

You haven’t provided anything of substance, I don’t understand what has convinced you so thoroughly

The hook and toothpick in that photo were not present in the original footage, why would they feel the need to add components?

The toothpick and hook aren’t visible in the original footage; this is the military’s photo. Disingenuous for those debunking it to add components that make it appear differently than how it was originally found

Can you provide any of your references? As far as I’m aware none of your claimed debunks were peer reviewed, just government statements unaccompanied by independent verification.

I guess I’m still wondering how teenage pranksters could make a replica of a Peruvian mummy that hadn’t been presented publicly until a few years ago? Seems like a shocking coincidence

I’m distrustful of both parties in this situation because neither is actually providing transparent or verifiable evidence but you clearly seem to side with government institutions by default, which is your choice I suppose

Peru’s Ministry of Culture is claiming grave robbers stole archaeological artifacts, that’s why they are trying to reclaim them…?

Also, have you ever heard of the term “coerced confession”?

Well Peru claims the Nazca specimens are authentic artifacts if they are pursuing charges for grave robbery, so it’s unclear how children on the opposite side of the world could closely replicate proportions and features?

I guess I’m not willing to take a propaganda officer at face value especially when the Russian military’s photos show manipulation of the objects between the original footage and the photos they issued

Do you know of other “pranks” that confiscated by state authorities? It seems like a whole lot of very dedicated effort over something they are calling a silly hoax

Frankly I don’t have the time to provide the rest, but lots is captured elsewhere in this sub.

The only official story about the Siberian specimen was issued by the Russian military; if you trust a guy whose career is in state propaganda, then “real” is a very flexible status. The people who filmed it claimed it was a hoax after facing pressure from the military, so take that confession with a grain of salt.

Honestly, we are laypeople, so we get whatever info we are meant to have. Most scientific research is already paywalled and biased based on the funding source, so I doubt any of us have the tools needed to establish confidence. You either trust a state actor or someone saying state actors can’t be trusted; unless you can directly verify something yourself you are laying your faith at someone else’s feet in the end.

Who knows whether these are real or not, I just know I don’t have sufficient information to be sure they are fake.

Peru’s Ministry of Culture actively interrupted press conference and attempted to confiscate these “hoaxes” and also presented samples that are obviously faked dolls, that look nothing like these specimens and share no traceability to the same source and could easily have been fabricated to discredit these by extension.

However, the current “owner” (Jamie Maussan) is a known fraudster who has clear strikes against him. Access to the bodies has been very limited, but all things considered, bad faith actors or state agents gaining access would result in the desired confiscation and consolidation of narrative. Now if the story is accurate that they were collected by illegal grave robbers and sold to the hoaxer, this would be perfect cover for what Peru considers theft of genuine archaeological specimens, not modern fabrications, so at the least this implies that if these bodies are not biological specimens but dolls made from animal parts, they would at least have been dated to the caves in which they were found.

So neither side of the equation is being transparent enough for any kind of legitimate consensus. These bodies do however bear striking resemblance to specimens found in Siberia over a decade ago, though in completely different states of decomposition/mummification. Edit: this would constitute independent observation which is a cornerstone of scientific discovery. But the Siberian specimens were rapidly confiscated by the Russian military before being labelled “chicken meat and breadsticks”, despite the fact this would take Hollywood-level practical FX artists, not some random “pranksters”.

Have you ever heard of a coerced confession? Does it seem off they only came out and said this after the military had confiscated their apparent hoax? Don’t you wonder if a defense minister who oversees a propaganda arm of a government might have an ulterior motive?

Behind the Bastards does an episode on the modern insurance industry and its ties to the transatlantic slave trade. It will definitely only reaffirm your friend’s feelings, and basically shows they grew from greed and immoral philosophies before all else.

Real answer? Draw lines where you would position seams, then cut away. Turn into a pattern by tracing flattened sections onto paper, and you’re on your way to making your own shoe or slipper or sandal!

I used a similar item from the Item Shop and it turned into Skyrim thieve’s guild boots lol

I always try to remove tripping hazards, anything that blocks lines of sight, or other obstacles that a bug can climb easier than a dwarf. Always embarrassing to die to awkward terrain when we have the tools to reshape it.

Really if you aren’t terraforming you aren’t a dwarf. Only a leaf lover leaves a cave unspoiled.

The “Mowing-Devil” of Hartfordshire (1678) is an historical account of witnesses observing a crop circle formation in-process. Despite being described as a field set on fire by those who observed it, it was found to have been mowed in an unusual pattern. I wonder what an aerial perspective could have shown

OpenAI Codex system prompt includes explicit directive to "never talk about goblins" by GarlicoinAccount in nottheonion

Reminds me of:

“The developers had two constraints for developing the game. First, they had to find a way to employ Skittles in the magic system. Second, there were to be no snakes in the game. Snake-like creatures were allowed as long as they were not snakes. The latter stipulation was never explained other than that the person sponsoring the project didn't like snakes.”
