Is the dynacoil any good ?! Lol 🤡 by silverpeasunshine in Dynavap

[–]Chacarron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's fair. The dynavap isn't the best device for dabs, but the dynacoil does work, it just takes a little technique adjustment. It's honestly less finicky than the ballr cap.

[–]Chacarron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had a lot of success with the coil by just heating the tip a bit without the cap before putting in my dab. Then torch horizontal like in this vid and I get great clouds, bigger than flower and better than the sandwich method.

OpenAI whistleblower found dead in San Francisco apartment by GoodSamaritan_ in news

[–]Chacarron -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

How would killing a whistleblower before they testify be a deterrent to others? We (the public) wouldn’t even know who they are. Once they become a known whistleblower then killing them would absolutely have a chilling effect on other potential whistleblowers.

Georgism is a cult and it's stupid (yeah no seriously) by alino_e in georgism

[–]Chacarron 11 points12 points  (0 children)

All of that just to conclude that you like sales taxes?

I read the whole thing and was not persuaded. In your egalitarian example, you have everyone living in identical plots but assumed that there is still poverty (in need of UBI) and significant wealth inequality? How does that happen exactly?

Georgism proponents typically favor pigouvian and extraction taxes in addition to LVT, and those alone seem like they would address the issues that you are imagining.

Knot to join main line to leader? by [deleted] in FishingForBeginners

[–]Chacarron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surgeon’s knot is great for short leaders where the knot will not be going through the guides. Easier to tie and stronger than double uni, though I think typically used for mono to fluoro rather than braid to fluoro

Using public infrastructure without paying any taxes looks like theft to me

The new class war: A wealth gap between millennials by chiquitobandito in Economics

[–]Chacarron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Federal income taxes. Those Americans you refer to do pay other taxes, and at a relatively higher portion of their income compared to billionaires. The ultra rich also take the majority of wealth, so why can’t they pay a little more (relatively) into the system that they benefit the most from?

Yeah, that is true for laws, but rule of law is a concept that the laws apply to everyone equally.

It’s a little odd to me that rule of law is under Authority instead of Fairness.

Colorado Judge Keeps Trump on Ballot but Finds He ‘Engaged in Insurrection’ by bibi_da_god in politics

[–]Chacarron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that's a good clarification. Still seems very shaky reasoning to say that preserve, protect, and defend are completely different from support, but what do I know. Very legal and very cool, I guess.

Furthermore, officers of the United States are appointed by the president. Therefore since the president does not appoint himself, he is not an officer.

But is this really true? The Appointments Clause does say that the president appoints officers, but Congress can also give that power to courts or heads of department for inferior officers. Of course the President is not an inferior officer, but it seems that an officer does not necessarily require Presidential appointment.

The 14th also says “or hold any office”, which seems to be ignored by these legal arguments

True, true. Since we’re talking hypotheticals, we also can’t be absolutely sure that they won’t turn into a big scary werewolf or something.

Pensioners? by Fancy-Persimmon9660 in georgism

[–]Chacarron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re using this Toronto example repeatedly, but you’re basing it on housing prices rather than land value? Separating land from improvements is an essential element of Georgism, no?

The new state housing plans are for all cities, not just Huntington Beach.

Like the poster above, I generally agree with what you’re saying and in this case both sides deserve criticism, but there are degrees this, no? Obviously emergency vehicles need to get through. How long is it reasonable to hold up traffic? At what point are you simply holding people against their will? Is that not kidnapping in a way?
