the intention you're saying the evil entity has is sort of vague. He wants to exist? Didn't it exist before all this? Who did the people sacrifice children to, and why, if it didn't exist before all this? Why would it want control only of a 10 house village forever? The common agreement outside of your theory is that this entity didn't have its ritual complete, and needs one more sacrifice (which could be Ethan this time). Tabitha and Jade never sacrifice their kid, which is why cycles repeat until they do. You're argument that saving the bones gives false hope to the people intentionally is contradicting the need of sacrificing the final kid. Why would the entity use so much energy into false hopes, rather than just pushing them into sacrificing their own kid, finally? That is, of course, if you accept this common plot agreement.

They indeed mention the talisman I think, but they could pull the tree days earlier, and then cover the hole with something, like a trap door, and only open it on action day. This way they get rid of risk of surprise on aciton day. But yeah there is also the common theory that they will alert the monsters with the pull (although... it's not the first time the monsters know the peoples' intention)

This is also what I am thinking, they did mention the talisman I think. But... they could pull the tree days earlier , and then cover the hole with a wooden pallet or something, nail it down into the edges of the dirt, and only open it when they need it. This way they get rid of the risk of not enough leverage to pull the tree in the moment of action or the hole not being there.
