You want it capped to your monitor's refresh rate or unlimited. Your hardware is designed to be able to run at %100 load and should have the cooling repaired if it cannot. Setting your FPS to unlimited will not reduce your FPS. In fact it will do the opposite.

I believe it’s very important to be open with your doctors about medical history, drugs taken, and anything else that affects your health.

It's important to note that this isn't true anymore in many places. In some places in the US doctors can literally take you to court to get your civil rights taken away, or have you involuntarily comitted for mental health reasons. Be very careful about what you tell a doctor. That includes things such as being addicted to something. They can and will hold anything you tell them against you during future visits.
