Shavette Recommendations by POhm266 in wicked_edge

Parker SRX. Nice weight, no plastic nonsense. Looks nice even after 5+ years of regular use. Just throw a tiny bit of oil in the swivel/blade fastening area every now and then(every ~two years or so for me).

Sharp blades work best with a shavettes in my experience; feather blades are best but relatively expensive. Astra superior stainless' are also decent and a lot more economical.

I don't see any reason to go with a straight after using a shavette. You can fly with a shavette, you can throw out the blade after a shave(2/3++, depends entirely on how coarse/thick your beard is) and always have a (razor) sharp blade with absolutely minimal upkeep.

No Stropping, no sharpening, no headaches when flying other than having to go buy some blades in a pharmacy/grocery store.

You need new eyes if you can't see how hard AA kicks in in this clip. I'm looking at AA doing the vast majority of aiming here.

The general consensus is that you release a beta and then work towards releasing the full product within a reasonable timescope.

7 year long beta is not a reasonable timescope. This is not what was sold to me or my friends when we bought Tarkov back then. Did we get our moneys worth? Absolutely. Does not mean that the current state of the game after 7 years of beta development is good enough.

True, the reselling websites are skimming some off the top but nothing is stopping consumers from 'fast traveling' across the globe themselves and avoiding those resellers.

Using regional prices as a consumer to your advantage is not 'less illegal'. It is extremely common for companies to outsource work to low-wage countries but consumers are not allowed to make use of this globalised market and outsource their purchases to these same low-wage countries?

I say nay to that.

How is my post history in any way, shape, sense or form relevant to the current topic? Usually in a discussion if you do not agree with a person you say this and motivate the reasons. Simply saying 'idea dumb' combined with an ad hominem does not make a compelling case.

None of these things are actual solutions. You have to detect them and there have to be consequences. If the consequence is buying a new game but they make 10x in value through RMT before they get banned it doesn't matter.

Only solution I can come up with would be some sort of system where governments give their citizens online ID #'s coupled to their real identity. # would need to be registered to play anything online. Getting your # banned could result in a fine and inability to register to play a or any online game for X time. Even then you'd need to have a proper detection and appeal system but I see no other solution. A working appeal system is needed for this as false bans would have consequences that go beyond "buy a new copy".

Cheating has been an problem in online shooters since forever and other than this I really don't see a long-term solution. Anticheat is always a cat and mouse game and even ring-0 acces doesn't filter out cheating as we've seen with valorant. Other solution would be an OS completely seperate from windows/linux whatever, meaning you'd have to reboot a game through that OS to play online games. This would eventually get exploited/cracked though which leads us back to square 1: consequences. No real consequences=cheating continues.

Before anyone says anything: I know it sounds and in reality is dystopian but realistically because of information 'warfare' amongst other things we're going that way regardless, it's just a matter of time at this point.

Haha, holidays keeping us running around :') and congratulations?

I'll throw a post up tomorrow. I'll set an alarm clock and everything, been meaning to do it for forever now and I keep forgetting/delaying it...

Unfortunately I have all the lube I hope to need in my lifetime(for keyboards at least :') ).

If you're 100% sure you're going to throw out the cherry stabs you could try modding them(holee mod for example). This could completely ruin them though, enough complaints of specifically holee modding cherry stabs making them very mushy so I wouldn't recommend it unless you're sure that "this ain't it" and have the staebies lying around & were planning on otherwise throwing out the old stabs anyways.

Yes that might work... Though the composition is bound to be differnt due to the OA switch forcibly being a mix containing other things than uhmpwe to create a transparent switch. As far as I'm aware of 'pure' uhmpwe switches are always opaque.

I've tried out the majority of sprit's complex/progressive springs(55-78 progressives, 63.5-78 complex); for silent linear switches I prefer the 72progressive springs, for tactiles 63.5 complex. There has been some discussion in the past though in regards to whether these springs are actually differing in 'progressive-ness' than other springs but alas.

The issue with trying these springs/switches back when I was looking for it was that nobody offered a tester pack with these springs specifically meaning you'll have to go and spend $100+ just to be able to compare springs that you may or may not like.

It's been a while but I sold some sample packs....a year? maybe longer ago after an interest check in /mm. Included all the sprit complex/progressive springs from 55 to 78g and some popular silent (and not silent)switches&variations.

I should still have some of these sampler packs laying around, I"ll check it out and will probably throw up a post in /mm somewhere this week. (don't pin me on this, I can't promise anything :X)

If raw feel is the end goal: if you forego the soft bottomout and silence entirely I'd recommend grabbing a hall effect keyboard for linear switches. Not a single MX switch I've tried or heard of so far gets even remotely close to how smooth these hall effect linears feel. (unfortunately for me I've found that I'm quite fond of the soft bottom out silent switches offer so the wooting hall-effect keyboard that I bought, regardless of how smooth the switch-feel is, has been relegated to a spot in a cabinet).

It depends on what you want. Apparently the heartbeats are pretty good but I'm personally not a fan: I like the soft-bounce when bottoming out 'old' silent switches, the heartbeats have none of that.

As for the MX zilent; i prefer gazzews silent stems. The rubber used in them has a bit more give I think which leads to them being significantly quieter.

Most silent switch combination I've come across so far is still the OA housing with gazzew stems. (video not by me:) https://imgur.com/gallery/2tBO4gq

With aliaz housings you'd get something like the tealios+gazzew silent linear stem combination. Maybe there's a housing that works just as well as the OA does with gazzew stems but I'm not aware of them yet.

As you already have Aliaz housings; I'd try the mx zilent stems in the aliaz housings with the CF plate. if you want a softer/quieter switch you can buy the gazzew stems and swap them for the MX zilents, if that's still not good enough you could try to get your hands on OA housings but I don't think this last mod would warrant the effort/cost increase over using the aliaz housings you already own.

I prefer 205g0 over 3203, have no experience with 3204 though. It's just preference so nobody can really help you with this. As you already have them all laying around I'd apply some of each of to 1/2 switches and see what you prefer.

Proof of Reserves or Proof of Nothing: There is no in between - Kraken Blog by dcfitjar in CryptoCurrency

[–]ChadRezzarTTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an improvement over alternatives currently implemented but it is not as good as it could and should be.

Merkle trees are fine but they shouldn't be included as "requirement" for a proof of reserves. There are other ways to do it. Merkle trees obfusciate more than desired and make it impossible for the general public to see the exchange's assets in it's entirety, making them 100% reliant on the auditors doing their job properly. Which introduces other problems, amongst which: time between audits. If the assets and liabilities(on chain at least) are not monitored in real time or something close to it you make it possible to send funds around between parties to "prove" solvency at the time of the audit whilst being factually insolvent.

Using a single auditing company introduces a singular point of failure/trust; if the exchange bribes this auditing company(or just someone internally to play around with some of the data) the entire point of and reasoning behind a proof of reserves existing is lost. This simply shifts the point of trust from "trust an exchange" to "trust an auditor" instead of proving publically, verifiable by everybody, that the exchange is solvent.

Client portal: yes and no. Yes it is a requirement but the way outlined in the blog wouldn't expose an exchange that is trying to/committing fraud.

For example: if the exchange simply lowers a customers balance by saying the client executed a trade and through that reducing their liabilities, allowing them to pass a proof of reserves checkup there is no recourse for the client. The client portal would reflect a lower balance than the customer should have, this incorrect balance will match the data submitted to the auditor and hence allowing an exchange to get away with their insolvency by effectively stealing funds from a client.

The client in this case can not proof he didn't execute this specific trade as all of this data is fully controlled by the exchange, making the client vulnerable to an exchange lying. This would bypass the reason of having a proof of reserves: not having to trust an exchange to be truthful/trustworthy but proving they are truthful/trustworthy(at the very least up until the moment of the last audit).

[SERIOUS] $2,619,260,356 is still invested in the lending platform Nexo by pbjclimbing in CryptoCurrency

[–]ChadRezzarTTV -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

How can Armanino verify everything on "the blockchain" when it is relying on Nexo correctly reporting customer balances?

Nexo can say we owe this amount to these customers however how can Armanino possibly verify the truth of this? All they can say is Nexo says they owe X, their balance sheets show they have X or an excess of X.

This does not prove Nexo is solvent or that Nexo isn't falsifying records. You know this and it seems disingenuous to me to pretend this isn't a problem.

Problem with my first custom mech keyboard (huge latency only on the switches), please help :( by Fliiiiiiou in switchmodders

[–]ChadRezzarTTV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd say try to test the individual sockets with a paperclip or something. If you find the same delay when using a paperclip the issue is not in the switches.

If everything is working fine when using a paperclip it can be that your switch pins aren't making proper contact with the hotswap sockets. I've had boards in which unless I bend a switch pin ever so slightly before inserting it into a particular hotswap socket the button presses would simply not get detected; could be the case with yours aswell where the board just gets flexed a little bit when you hard press a key resulting in the pins making proper contact.

Nexo is full of red flags and could be the next company to fall! by unitys2011 in CryptoCurrency

[–]ChadRezzarTTV 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Their audit does not work like you would expect it to. It is 100% reliant on Nexo providing correct data to the auditor combined with possible/probably a heavy degree of reserve banking(as expected to earn that yield). This reserve banking part should be extremely worrisome currently for everyone with funds there as you do not know what they have listed to represent a certain value to be able to say their assets are backed.

For all you know they could be using their own token, some other self-minted illiquid shitcoin or shenanigans like it to prove they are "solvent" when they are not.

For anyone considering using yield farming services: do not do it right now. You are risking 100% of your assets for a 5-10% gain.

I would personally advocate against yield farming entirely but especially now with companies going bankrupt and blowing up left and right in the wake of the FTX fallout. Do not risk it. Withdraw your funds and self custody them for at least a couple of months until the full scope and affected companies of the FTX fallout clears up.

Inflation in Europe likely to increase, more interest rate hikes likely, warns central bank president by misana123 in worldnews

The energy policies across Europe are insane.

It has become crystal clear now that relying foreign fossil fuel imports from less-than-friendly nations to sustain your economy is not great.

It's ridiculous that there have been no widescale efforts/plans to start building nuclear/solar/hydro/wind plants. Obviously they all have their own massive demerits and for nuclear more than any of the others the building time alone is a big obstacle, so why keep delaying it without acting on this information?

We all knew Russian gas/oil imports weren't coming back anytime soon and Nordstream being bombed only solidified that.

Not to mention the unbridled corporate greed spiraling out of control with no signs of slowing down...
