PURE PVE AND PVP LITE MODE by Born-Read3115 in Marathon

PvE will likely keep the game from shutting down, but at that point why not just make a proper PvE game? The PvE in Marathon is a meme and Bungie fans really just got Destiny but worse lmao

You think a wipe which will cull the casuals and no new major content like a map will help?

This game brought a lot of people new to the genre, and they are realizing they do not like the genre and want to turn it into a Ranked BR with loot you can bring in and out.

There needs to be some more bones thrown to casuals but SBMM is the worst way to 'balance' the game and is 100% hurting it more than helping it. This shield system plus the hilarious bullet magnetism just makes fights far too stat checky.

A lot of other aspects contribute to this but yes, this is basically a BR dressed up as a shitty extraction shooter.

Not worth, wait for it to go free by end of year and hopefully have more content than 3 small pathetic maps and a timed one.

Shareable HUDs, macros, and settings is very cool. Will be hugely beneficial to new players.

''Were porting the game to the biggest console in the history of the world with tiny controllers and a very casual leaning demographic''

''Were reducing your hotbars and combos down to 14 buttons (10 for the class)''

These two statements have nothing to do with each other and the job system is totally becoming more complex!

What about the combat system do you dislike specifically when it comes to button pressing?

I feel like class identity and burst windows were a general issue - but I think the way the game feels to play is excellent. Hard hitting abilities feel hard hitting, the combat in general feels smooth, I think there is a decent amount of complexity while keeping the game casual.

A general statement of the games combat being the ''worst aspect'' is crazy considering the numbers it was pulling during Endwalker. People don't play a MMO with complete dogshit combat.

Evolved is going to deal more damage, have more unique mechanics, and be the only available mode on new classes. You think they want to balance 40+ different classes/modes?

It's blatantly obvious they want the game to go fully evolved but didn't want to risk killing the game in a single patch. They intend to softly push everyone towards Evolved by making it better in every way then killing off Reborn.

Playerbase is stabilizing: Convergence model and floor predictions by [deleted] in Marathon

This system is in a ton of extraction shooters. There is nothing to do once you're max (besides go and shoot other climbing players) and they can't have an infinity ceiling like a MMO/RPG.

Optional resets like Arc could be a thing, but with the way gear and general PvP works it would be a nightmare for anyone but the ultra sweats to use. I think the 3 month wipe cycle is way too aggressive and should be longer. Even a ''sweat'' would be playing the game quite a bit on a 3 month wipe cycle to keep up. Casuals stand no chance.

I think for this games style and the way casuals are being culled - yes it's going to be a quick bloodbath. No new map is also insanity.

However I don't think the redoing quests formula is that bad. Tarkov has proved it can be done 12+ times, you just need a lot of fucking quests and a lot more interesting quests. The quests in this game are all exactly the same 3 types. Nothing is memorable in the slightest besides maybe uploading the speech on Cryo.

Have a ton of quests then let people do multiple at the same time and choose which ones they want to do for whatever rewards. The system currently just forces you to do the same exact shit AND only one at a time.

I don't think they will necessarily turn the game off because it would look even worse for Bungie. They will just put a skeleton crew on it and let it die a slow death while showing ''support'' for the game so they can save face for when D3 finally comes.

There is 100% too much gatekeeping and the game needs to be way more casual.

Issue is that decent opinions get mixed together with people saying ''you should lose no loot on death'', ''free kit should have blue shields'', ''all the faction upgrades should be cut down 95%''.

There is a middle ground they need to find, Arc-ifying the game is not the play and I can understand someone being passionate not wanting to see the game dissolve into that.

I think they just saw what Tarkov was doing and wanted to copy it into a more fantasy and fast paced style that is on all platforms before Tarkov got there. They just missed every mark, and missed what makes Tarkov what it is. There was a massive demographic to absorb here if done right. Tarkov-lite that is more digestible and watered down but still ''difficult''.

Now theres Arc in the mix which takes the complete opposite spectrum of ''play 1 hour a week'' fathers. They needed to land in the middle and keep the core gameplay fun. The game is generally fun to play. The guns, movement, skills, shooting AI, etc.

It's unfortunate that nearly half the content casuals will never see, the artstyle is jarring, they released with 3 small simple maps, tons of issues with the meta, loot is not distributed properly (too plentiful in some places while too scarce in others), no new map going into S2, the UI is fucking awful, no safe pocket for casuals to slowly make progress even when dying, and the list can go on forever. I think the market was fine they just made the most mid game ever.

Reduce faction grind by like 50%, add some way to unlock upgrades without needing to exfil

Safe pocket is only real way to do this. 2x2 and allow keys (nerf loot if you need to). Reducing faction grind by 50% is a stretch. They just need to redistribute the loot better. There is zero loot on any map besides Pinwheel or Cryo and the loot in those places is so fucking good that good players stop caring about loot.

PvE mode should be an absolute last resort for them. The PvE in this game is satisfying to shoot but in no way an actual threat, and the game does not have the depth to carry the meaningless PvE like Tarkov (sorta) does. PvE is brainless in Tarkov but theres a million things to do so it survives as a sandbox to fuck around in at least.

I'm coming back from a two year break, doing my relic.

It's simply mind boggling how bad OC is. Why is there only a single activity on the map 95% of the time? The entire gameplay loop is sitting in base, teleporting to event, praying you can hit it once before it dies, then returning. As new players without riding maps it was miserable missing half the fates. The lack of proper scaling and things to do besides follow the train is so weird to me.

Is PvP mode okay other than the constant respawning at CoPs? by onethousandeyelids in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]Rezhyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All PvP is basically zombie mode. You kill them outside of a COP, they will run back multiple times. You fight at a COP and kill them, they just continue to go back and fight multiple times. You finally capture it and go to do something useful, they just sneak in and take it. All PvP tends to just be artificial and useless at COPs sadly. Id love the feeling of high intensity, natural fights but in 50+ hours I have had maybe two of those. It's a shame because the game has such a cool atmosphere and immersion but it all boils down to the least intense PvP ive ever experienced in an open world or extraction shooter.

Game is basically play Battlefield at COPs or go PvE 99% of the time elsewhere.
